NCL SUN

Recommended Posts

I was on the Sun in 2018 and 2019 - First to Cuba and the next year was supposed to be Cuba but the government turned that into a Bahamas cruise.

The Sun was renovated in early 2018 - the rooms and public spaces were all in great shape - service was great, food was fantastic - the entertainment was a notch below what the mega ships have - but other than that it was fantastic.

Anyone been on the Sun since the refurb? We have been going on all the big ships, want to go back to a small one for AK cruise next year. Cant find any reviews or much about the Sun. Thanks

It is your typical small ship.

Maybe a quick video will help you understand what the ship looks like.

Here is link to a thread from August 15th regarding the Sun

There are a number of videos on Youtube ... BirdTravels posted one above.

The Sun had a major refurbishment in early 2019.  We'd love to sail on her again.

We just got back from the Encore and while all the activities are very cool, our focus on Alaska cruises is really the ports and so we didn't have much time to really do as much on board as we might have liked. I think we will save the mega ships for less port intensive trips.

The Sun looks like a lovely ship after its refurb and honestly reminds me of the Grand Class Princess ships which we have always been our favorite. We booked the 9 day Alaska cruise on the NCL Sun next May and are very much looking forward to trying out one of NCL's smaller and more traditional cruise ship options without all the flash, but providing a really great Alaska itinerary!

Our first NCL cruise was on the Sun to Alaska a number of years ago...and it was terrific...!

The Sun seems to be the only NCL ship that does the longer (more than 7 day) Alaska cruises...we'd booked a 10-day in 2020 and a 9-day for this year--both of which were cancelled, sadly.  The itinerary for each included Sitka--a wonderful port that many of the 7-day cruises don't include.

Hoping that the 2022 cruises to Alaska on the Sun aren't cancelled...cause we're anxious to see the refurbishment and make some new memories.
