That would make sense, since P&O and Princess also shared the Royal class design (P&O Britannia I believe was built on the Royal class foundation). One would think that there would be a elaborate presentation. Folding chairs. Temporary MUTS. Turn around to see the "unveiling". Lost mic. And who is this Anji (aka carnival barker). I'm sorry, Princess blew this reveal. Nothing...Nothing that would get me to Call in and wait on hold to book passage. 4300 Passengers, 21 dcks, 29 food venues (I bet most of a fee)....and probably lots of for reservation areas. Looks like they might be copying the NCL Haven approach. Will be interesting when the deck plans come out.
losfp Posted September 15, 2022 #332 Share Posted September 15, 2022 I had it on in the background while getting the kids ready for school. Underwhelming presentation, but it's always really hard to translate the energy in those outdoor events to a video. The new ship looks nice, but I don't love the move to bigger and bigger ships. Our favourite Princess cruises have been on the smaller ships - Star and Diamond. I wonder if this is to differentiate them from HAL, which is otherwise a similar-ish line under the Carnival umbrella. If that's the case, I may look to a different line like HAL for our planned 2027 Alaska trip (IMO the smaller ships shine in that destination). Nothing compared to the attention given the Royal Princess years ago. Nevertheless I went ahead and booked a deluxe balcony midship deck 6 for the Barcelona to Rome cruise in February 2024. They are setting aside so much deck space for suite passengers that they rarely have to mix with the lower class passengers. That they have dedicated a high percentage of public space to these areas is leaving less for the regular passenger to enjoy. Try finding a view forward on the Edge class if you aren't a suite "guest". The only place the peasants can see forward is in the extra cost thermal suite areas in the spa or in the fitness areas. The rest are dedicated to the suite class Retreat decks. We started cruising on Celebrity, then reduced our cruises there for exactly the same reason. If Princess is making the jump in that direction then our cruises on Princess (currently about 80 days a year) will drop off similarly.

This seems to indicate that Princess is embracing the amusement park trend often seen on less premium cruise lines. Zoom in on the image the link below brings up. https://spaces.hightail.com/receive/zimDTyzXiN/fi-ce707687-8255-4669-945d-0eba180b401c/fv-43a07a86-147b-474e-86cb-f6a9378ae520/Exterior.jpg I love a big ship, but was hoping we could see a big ship without all the amusement park stuff. There are "hull hole" balconies below the lifeboat deck. A first for a Princess ship. 2. There appears to be a wide promenade deck similar to recent NCL ships. 3. Behind and around the funnel looks like either a Bolt-like rollercoaster track or perhaps something like Carnival's SkyRide suspended bikes. 4. Also behind the funnel looks like a ropes course. There also seem to be balconies across the whole rear of the ship, where the horizon court (buffet restaurant) is on other ships. This must mean it will be in a different location on this ship. Perhaps on the main lower decks? Has anyone viewed the deck plans for this ship yet? Edited September 15, 2022 by KhaiLW

Wishing on a star Posted September 16, 2022 #350 Share Posted September 16, 2022 No tub in Mini's. But both seem to have a larger actual walk in shower. in all honesty, I would assume that if Princess had to either have a large nice shower with glass door, or a small tub shower, for the huge majority. (exceptions of course) the shower would be preference. Nice, larger shower, but still small balconies!!! So. one 'plus' and one 'minus' But, I am wondering if all decks might have the larger 'premium' balconies like the Dolphin Deck does on the latest ships. I am not seeing any mention, but looking at the photos.... A Sanctuary is mentioned as the Signature Sun Deck area is described as a private section of The Sanctuary. I saw a quick shot of what appears to be a 'Sanctuary' at the front of the ship. Lot's of wind protection glass/plexiglass panels, but no shading panels in that rendering. But, really... who knows????? Seriously... we are looking at PR renderings I am holding out for the deck plans.
