Celebrity Edge to Head Down Under for 2023-2024 Season

September 22, 2021

Celebrity Cruises has announced plans for its Celebrity Edge to debut "down under” for the 2023-2024 season.

According to a press release, the brand’s Edge Series ship will offer an array of six-to-13-night itineraries from early December 2023 through April 2024 around the coastlines of Australia and neighboring New Zealand, along with the tropical South Pacific.

Guests will be able to select from 12 itineraries visiting a collection of 22 ports with departures from both Sydney and Auckland.

The 2,908-passenger Edge offers contemporary interior and outward-facing design, Celebrity said.

“Our new advertising campaign poses a question, ‘Isn’t it time?’ to treat ourselves and to get out and experience the world, again. There’s no better way to experience this amazing part of the world than on our award-winning, transformational Celebrity Edge,” said Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. “She’s a luxury boutique hotel, Michelin-quality dining, a luxurious spa retreat with the world at your service. We are so excited to offer such a truly special vacation experience Down Under.”

Celebrity Cruises Vice President and Managing Director of Australia and APAC, Tim Jones, added: “The Celebrity Edge has changed how people view a cruise holiday and she is in a class of her own with a plethora of firsts onboard. We have long anticipated her arrival to the region - this is a moment of real celebration for Australian travelers and Celebrity Cruises.“

Some of the features of the Celebrity Edge include The Retreat with its private restaurant, exclusive lounge, sundeck and a dedicated team of hosts and concierges on-hand 24/7; accommodations, from modern two-story villas with plunge pools to staterooms with Infinite Verandas curated and designed by the British designer Kelly Hoppen CBE; The Magic Carpet cantilevered above the sea; 29 distinct restaurants, bars, and lounges; wellness facilities; and more.

Highlights of Celebrity Cruises’ upcoming 2023/24 season Down Under include:

• Themed itineraries including ‘Sun and Beach Escapes’, ‘Food and Wine Classics’, and ‘Five Star Getaways’, providing deeper immersion into the region’s culture, brought to life through enhanced onboard and shoreside programming.

• Overnight opportunities in Cairns, Australia; Auckland, New Zealand; and Hobart, Tasmania

• A new port visiting the scenic Kangaroo Island, a nature reserve in Australia

• Every New Zealand sailing exploring both the North and South islands

• A sun-filled South Pacific itinerary transporting guests to islands such as New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Mystery Island.

Celebrity Edge 2023/24 sailings open for sale to the general public on Oct. 14, 2021.

I wonder if Kate will bring the cat?

A lovely ship.

Celebrity edge should be able to dock in cairns overnight,I don’t know about Auckland.

Why wouldn’t it be able to dock in Auckland? Ovation is 30 metres longer and it berths there.  They have cruises scheduled to depart from Auckland so you would assume Celebrity would know.. 🤔

Well I don’t know if it can Graham,I’m not saying it can’t. it’s 306 meters .
lm just not that familiar with Auckland, there was talk of using the industrial wharf to the east of the cruise terminal and there was talk of a dolphin.

I have been to Auckland twice on Ovation and it couldn’t dock.It was a tender port.

Ovation is 348 meters long.

Princes Wharf can accomodate up to 320 metres I believe.

Ovation is too big to dock in Auckland and so, when there, it sits in the harbour and tenders go back and forward.

Yes, tenders ok for a “port of call” but not ideal for a start/ end of cruise for a ship that size. The Edge is a fair bit smaller ( 42 metres)and will be fine for docking and has Auckland scheduled for embark/ debark.

Ohhh, now that it exciting news.

Cat or no cat I'll have to try the ship out. 🙂

I don’t know how the cat would go with our quarantine?
I think it would be to hard especially with crew rotation.

Captain Kate may be on a different ship by then, probably on celebrity Beyond.

If she is on celebrity edge  in Sydney, you might hit on her and show her the sights.

You would probably have to take the cat along.

I believe Captain Kate only sails on US trips because of the quarantining of Bug Naked.  Maybe if he didn't get off the ship he could come but I doubt it.  Don't think she would sail without him.

Chiliburn, I think it might be from Europe. Darwin Ports had a entry for the Celebrity Edge on 01 December which has since been removed.

So when it’s deployed here do you think Asia or Alaska in our off season?

I think Alaska,it’s the biggest cash cow for the US.

I remember reading a report on ship revenue for RCG ,about 5-6 years ago.

The biggest revenue ships where the Australian and Alaskan ships.

Alaska are premium for the Americans. 1 weeks holiday.

And The Australian market for international tourism and big drinking ozies.

Alaska is where it will go in our off season.

I think it will be definitely be Alaska.

When we did our Inside passage cruise in May, 2005 on Pacific Princess it was early season, but still 3 or 4 big ships in at places like Ketchikan and Skagway.  In the height of the season, July/August often 7 or 8 big ships in at those towns, overwhelming, teeming with pax, not nice, take my advice go in May.
