denamo Posted September 27, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Needing input on cruising in Miami then getting to Fort Lauderdale airport. Any big issues we might encounter doing this? The flight time we are looking at is 3:00 P.M. out of FLL. If we fly out of MIA, the only flight we could make would be a 7 P.M. flight. By taking the flight out of FLL, we'd be home by the time the MIA flight leaves. Thank you for any input.
FOPMan Posted September 27, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Shouldn’t be a problem at all. Stop at Jaxson’s Ice Cream for lunch or head east on Dania Beach Boulevard for lunch on the pier at Quarterdeck.
JohninDC Posted September 27, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2021 Ride from POM to FLL should take about 40+ minutes depending upon traffic. Shared shuttles typically charge about $15+ per person, or use UberX or standard Lyft for about $40+ for the car - taxi on the same run will be about $75+. You have time to store your bags at FLL and the head out for a fun lunch, or store your bags at the Luggage Lounge in South Beach and explore before heading to the airport. Have a great cruise! 😎
denamo Posted September 27, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted September 27, 2021 P.M. Thanks FOPMan and JohninDC. I really am not a fan of sitting around the Miami airport until a 7PM flight time. Also disappointing that no Luggage Valet available from Miami cruises according to Royal's website. Stuck with babysitting luggage until 3 hours prior to flight. UGH. Hoping for good travel weather to get to Fort Lauderdale from Miami. Off to change our flight to FLL.
shipgeeks Posted September 28, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2021 We used SAS shuttle when we did that. See rideSAS for info.
Ashland Posted September 28, 2021 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2021 After cruise you could rent a car (then return it to FLL) or Uber/Lyft to our favorite diner in Fort Lauderdale "Lester"s". Then you could call another Lyft/Uber or taxi to take you to FLL which is very close. We see many people at this diner with luggage..It's a very popular diner for a good meal before going to FLL. Another option if you rent a car is to go to SawGrass Mills Mall...lot's of food options and this is a huge mall that's a favorite of ours when we need to spend some time. ssbeard1 Posted September 29, 2021 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2021 We use Uber from POM to FLL. Do allow extra time in case of traffic, but very doable.

That would be way too much time spent at FLL...for an earlier flight than 3pm yes.
Bunkie103 Posted October 9, 2021 #9 Share Posted October 9, 2021 A huge accident closed I-95 when we needed to get to FLL from our MIA cruise. We used one of the airport shuttles and the driver was well versed in getting around the accident. Shouldn't be a problem for you if you're doing a shuttle or an uber.
