Using Future Cruise Credit when booking on line

After all the chuntering we have actually seen a cruise we fancy for Christmas 2023 - yes a long way in the future but we have £300 FCC that we could use for the deposit. We have seen the cabin we love available and have gone through all of the process and are confused:

There was no option to say no upgrades - am sure there used to be and don't want to risk ending up in an upgrade and not in this cabin (and something worse!)

We can not find any way of applying the FCC when paying.

We have had an e-mail saying that our FCC is on our account but not a sign of it

Very confused

Help !

This should automatically come up in the payment details as a credit. You may still need to pay a deposit afterwards.

No it hasn't -- we have now paid a deposit and wonder how this happened tonight !!!

Will have to phone them tomorrow  as we have now paid the deposit and not used any FCC to do that.

Confused dot com

Oh well, we've always wanted to do a Christmas cruise, loved Azura and the cabin is the one we had last time that we loved .... aft on the corner. To be honest am surprised that it is still available as it gets snapped up.

PS Will phone tomorrow -- is nothing ever easy ?????????!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't mind but we had the e-mail saying the FCC was on our account in February. Oh well ----------

Must admit we were told we had an FCC but a later email apologised and said it was a mistake. Hope you get yours applied.

We know that we definitely have FCC as the cruise was booked for Oceana in Feb 2019 and we had to cancel due to Covid and claimed FCC ... not long after she was sold anyway ! 100% certain we should have FCC.

Well somethings gone wrong somewhere.  If you waited till tomorrow would you have lost your wanted cabin?  I hope that they sort it out for you tomorrow.

Most probably -- the cabin is one of the reasons we have booked. It is B749 - an aft cabin right on the corner that usually goes first. Couldn't believe our luck. Have had the cabin before and it really is a stunner 🙂

You should not need to, we have definitely used an FCC to fully cover the deposit, with a little left over to reduce the final balance. But we always use a good Derbyshire on line TA, and they have no trouble finding the no upgrade option and the bed configuration.

Hi, we found the no upgrade and bed configuration bit after we had paid ........ odd we know.

I suppose we jumped at it as the cabin is one that normally goes quickly (as I've said) so wanted to snap it up. Am sure that we can sort it out with them ........... she says in 'glass half full' mood 😉

We have always selected no upgrade,  dining preference and bed configuration with our TA before paying anything !

Honestly, on line it was the other way around tonight. That's what confused us but we took Gettingwarmer's advice and it was spot on. We paid the deposit and then the bed configuration, dining and no upgrade info was available. We decided that if we put a deposit down we could always phone to double check afterwards. To be honest it is 2 years away and we can move it if we like so no big concern.

Playing devil's advocate,  you could have booked through a TA,  with less angst,  and got a better price !

But may have lost the cabin 😉 Didn't want to risk it as this was a BIG plus for us.

It is for a big birthday (and probably a later one for hubby who hasn't really been able to celebrate his and has always wanted to do a Christmas cruise) so went for it.

I fully understand not wanting to wait in those circumstances.

I booked our 2023 cruise on release day last month expecting to use our FCC towards the balance. I booked direct over the phone and when I mentioned the FCC the man on the phone looked it up and the FCC had already been taken off the balance of our 2022 cruise without us knowing.

That is interesting as we have found out today that our FCC had been taken off our balance for the cruise on IONA for May 2022 that we booked over the phone, without us knowing. Can't say we are pleased to be honest. Trying to work out when they were going to tell us and have asked for an updated invoice as there is no reference to it at all. The price we paid at the time over the phone was the brochure / price on line so can't see that it has 'come off' anywhere at all ...

We are also trying to work out what happens if we move the cruise from May 2022 to May 2023 .... do they then move the FCC with it and it gets knocked off that cruise cost ? We wanted to use it for a deposit not towards paying off another cruise.

We've now had a new invoice that shows the FCC displayed clearly against the cost of the cruise.

This is not the same as the original invoice we had last November so just a bit bizarre that we had not been told.

Then again, a pandemic and all of that chaos has happened around all of this ...

Exactly the same with us. We have previously booked direct with P&O but our contact there seems to have left, so we tried the specialist TA that you use this time. They had access to our FCC and it was used to pay the deposit in full so we didn’t have to part with any money. They also secured all four first choice cabins that we were after (three for one cruise and the fourth for a different cruise). All very impressive. My only gripe was that the discount was miniscule.

Selbourne  - I guess you have to trade off a professional execution of your requirements,  with a slight cost saving,  versus a complete disaster trying to book direct.

Given that you got all your cabin choices, with no issues,  I assume your gripe was very much tongue in cheek !

Everything you wanted, professionally executed, at a slightly lower cost than booking direct - how can you complain ?

Yes, it was tongue in cheek Wowzz. I was very impressed and will use them for future bookings. I’ve never had any problems booking direct in the past and always managed to get some extra discount by way of some extra OBC, but that was from someone that I knew well. As they appear to have left the opportunity arose to jump ship, as it were. The tiny discount is nice to have but wouldn’t be a show stopper. Getting all our first choice cabins within minutes of bookings opening was the clincher and will ensure our repeat business.

Glad to know that you and Mrs S got the cabins you wanted with the minimum of fuss.

Of course, as more people get to know the benefits of booking through a specific company, the advantages will become less easy to obtain. Perhaps time to keep quiet !

The main reason my husband agreed to put a deposit down on a second cruise, before even having our first, was to use our FCC, which as it turned out didn’t work that way. I didn’t think to ask for a new invoice but I did get them to confirm the new ‘22 balance over the phone.

This is exactly the same as us. We are happy with the cruise booked, but are worried that they have moved our FCC to a cruise that we may want to cancel or move our deposit on in the future without checking with us.

Does anyone know if your FCC would move to a new booking or not?
