Following the very enjoyable New Year's Eve celebrations on Mariner we docked in San Diego this morning. A glorious day, cool but sunny, for our tour around the city & harbour.

Great photo! It’s fun to see The World docked next to the Mariner. I have a relative with a suite on The World. Didn’t know they were nearby.

All onboard enjoy the last few days on the Mariner.    Jean.

Thanks, Jean. We fully intend to thoroughly enjoy the final few days on this wonderful ship. Unlike some other guests, we will not allow the perhaps over zealous actions of a nervous SF bureaucrat to dampen our spirits.

Normally we forgo breakfast, but today we enjoyed the traditional Sunday champagne & caviar in Compass Rose.

We both started with caviar & trimmings plus a Mimosa.

Then it was poached eggs & avocado for me, kippers for David.

It is a glorious sunny day at sea, so I opted to absorb some of the last rays of the cruise while David attended the morning lectures. This cruise has 3 excellent lecturers on board, who I believe are staying on at least for the next segment back to Miami.

Off to the Horizon lounge shortly for a quick Antigen test, which if negative will allow us to go ashore in San Francisco tomorrow. We hope to take the City Tour which includes a Dim Sum lunch. Weather in SF is forecast to be cloudy but hopefully no rain.

We are glad to see that Krew Kapers is still going ahead this evening, despite rumours that it might be cancelled (we have suffered plenty of rumours & disinformation during this cruise; there appear to be a few vocal conspiracy theorists on board)

We then have a shared table in Prime 7 and will try to make it to the production show, Blazing Boots

Entertainment last night was very enjoyable.

First was Krew Kapers; the Mariner crew’s first performance in front of guests ………………. and Elvis is back 😀

Later in the evening the Production Cast excelled in Blazing Boots, with a high energy performance; a fabulous team of singers & dancers.

We ended the evening with new-found friends listening to Ross playing popular hits in Mariners.

Total over indulgence on the F&B front yesterday.

After our champagne breakfast, we opted for room service on our balcony for lunch, predicting the last sunny day of the cruise

Then last night it was our second visit to Prime 7

An early arrival in SanFrancisco this morning, where the ship will remain berthed until Mariner departs for the World Cruise on Wednesday.

From our balcony we can see the covid quarantine hotel that the SF authorities will use for anyone failing an Antigen test

Only joking 🤣 🤣

Today we took one of the tours that Regent hastily arranged for our extra days in San Francisco - “City Tour with Dim Sum lunch

The bus tour was interesting and we had a good guide. The Chinese lunch was plentiful & tasty but was not in the most luxurious establishment. Describing the venue as ‘tired’ would be an understatement.

Tomorrow, our last day, we will spend on board. We are not looking forward to our Steward putting that final message on the bed 🙁

If Clint Eastwood is still on that island in the bay, I’ll be happy to volunteer.

Yesterday was a day of packing, testing & paperwork for our flight home.

We cashed in our Regent points and had an enjoyable dinner with new friends made during this cruise.

This is the view of Mariner as we left the port on a grey San Francisco day.

Our departure was made even sadder having had the news yesterday that we will no longer be rejoining Mariner in March. We were due to sail Singapore to Tokyo on a leg of the WC, but that is no more.

We are now at San Francisco airport waiting for BA check-in to open. Our flight is delayed ☹️

Susan yes very sad news of the world cruise cancellation and the relevant segments . Feel for all those who have travelled to SF and overcome the hurdles and to get there.
Hope your flight delay is not too long , it’s a long enough overnight flight home to LHR.

Safe travels and thanks for a great live thread.     Jean.

Hi Susan

we started together on Splendor and you magically took us with you on Mariner. It was really a wonderful journey…. The best are the foodie photos.
I hope we meet again, under better circumstances, on one of the seven seas… on a Regent ship.

wishing you a safe trip home!🥂👍❤️

Flossie thanks so much for your musings, I have thoroughly enjoyed them.

so sad about the WC and Segments.

Safe travels, I hope your flight isn’t delayed too long.

Keep your jackets handy - it’s bloomin cold here.

Our journey home is progressing.

Checked in, through security and sitting in the lounge with a welcome drink.

…………………. and our transport has just arrived ready to take us on our overnight flight back to the U.K.

Thanks for following along.

Hope that someone will report from Mariner on its journey back to Miami. It will be interesting to see which ports accept the ship on its next segment.

Thanks for the pictures. So glad you are reporting from the Mariner. We will be on her next Christmas and it is exciting to see what goes on during the Holidays!

We just booked the Dec.18 cruise Rio to Miami. Are you on that one?
