It’s all very bizarre we are now standing on the sidewalk outside the hotel at the airport trying to contact the care team. I certainly don’t want to be getting into a taxi to some unsuspecting driver.

The good news is the new hotel gets excellent reviews.  Also, someone mentioned restaurants nearby so hopefully your wait for food will be less.  You are smart to call the care team to confirm hotel is expecting you.

The care line are trying to sort out appropriate transport at this point. There is at least one other guest who we saw go in on Sunday whilst we were waiting outside at this point in the same position.

I honestly am not sure what is happening. I have a feeling the hotel doesn’t want quarantining guests there any longer but that’s just my perception at this point.

I think your gut feeling about the hotel is correct.  Sorry this is happening to you.  It sounds like you a asymptomatic, so at least you seem strong enough to handle this drama.

This might be  a good warning for those boarding a ship in PR if you are quarantined, none of the hotels on land may want you staying at their hotels.  Then what do you do?

 

Guess they could transfer you to the Rhaspody  or Vision of the Seas with the other infected crew members to ride it out until you are healthy enough to get a negative test.

 

Sure seems like a lot to go through to just look at the ocean..

The other guy who is there as well has had a bus arrive to take him to the hotel. So it seems transport is coming. Just when it might arrive.

 

He also called ahead to the hotel to check and there is reservations for RC crew so I think that’s maybe just how they are booked.

 

The driver is waiting around looking for other guests now after checking our names - so I don’t think we are going on this transport.

If this becomes true that no hotels in SJ want quarantined cruise passengers, all the cruise lines are going to be forced to halt cruisng from there for a while. I can see that happening if they have no hotel options for positive passengers.

I have yet to find a positive post from you in months.  Why so miserable?  Why so negative?  Times are hard enough for everyone.  They try to pick themselves up and convince themselves that a nice vacation may get them over the hump and then here it comes.  A JIMBO post to kick them back in the gutter.  Times are tough and we are all trying to get back into a better place.  Give it a try for one week.  I am getting tired of copy and pasting SCHLEPROCK for your responses.

Okay, let's be optimistic for our friend, @Bfsroyal There is a hotel that they will be checking into, which according to another poster has good ratings. And the transport driver knows that he and his companion are waiting for their turn to be driven.  Bfsroyal's cell phone is charged, and he is keeping us updated.  Hopefully, he and his companion get something to eat soon.

So we have made it on a bus to the new hotel that royal has comissioned. The issue seems to be that some people were not following the quarantine rules and they weren’t happy.

Thankfully we had just finished eating when the manager came to say why are you still here.

 

The driver has said we have to wait whilst he gets the keycards for our room and we are escorted into the hotel via a separate entrance.

To be fair I don’t know how true that is or not. Perhaps people were coming and going from their rooms but we were often watching through the peephole (clearly we are very nosey) and didn’t see anyone. There was a couple of people but I assumed maybe they are actually normal guests.

 

The health department called a couple of times so perhaps some guests got caught out on that.

The room we are now in is a definite improvement. I am not sure if I should be praising those less honorable for the room upgrade. 

 

When we got to the hotel two other guests were already there waiting. There seem to be a few more already moved as the two that were waiting outside knew the other guests that already were given a room prior.

 

I think Royal quarantined guests are the only people on this floor. They have kept us completely separate to other guests.

Thank you for your updates.  How are you feeling?  I recall at the beginning of this adventure you were asymptomatic. Have you had any symptoms since?  Has your partner had any symptoms.  I hope things improve for you soon and you get a good.plan to get back home.

I do feel worse for royal now as this hotel is even more expensive. They offered us two rooms again - last time we took one as well - under the current rules one is fine.

Why does that not surprise me.

 

Royal should really have an official representative staying at each quarantine location to handle issues that arise.

Still asymptomatic and feeling fine. My partner currently doesn’t have to isolate any longer according to the PR health official who called me earlier unless he develops symptoms because of the change to CDC guidelines but has equally received a different notification from another health official via email.

 

I still am having to isolate here until the 4th January and can leave on 5th January (I believe the reason for that is that as the length of isolation is in an executive order). Although if PR follows the CDC guidance and makes a change before 5th January then I will be able to leave isolation then.

 

I was told that if I want to leave on a different flight to those notified to the health department to let them know to prevent any issues at the airport. So I must be on some sort of no fly list.
