We have just had a knock at the door from an official looking guy who asked if we are here with RCCL. He told us we have until 12 to get ready and pack as we are being moved and “are being sent home”

Thank you for posting, despite your circumstances. These posts are so helpful to know how the situations are being handled.

Best wishes for your return home and for your health!

You will certainly have memories to last a long time.

Indeed.

Literally it has been radio silence and expect the unexpected.

Understandably things are probably going on in the background and so fast moving. I’ll try to keep you updated along the way whatever happens.

I just called the care team to see if they knew anything and they don’t know what is happening. The lovely woman on the line said she had received a call from another person in PR on the exact same query and has escalated to try and find out with RCCL management.

We thought we would call reception to see if they know what is happening. As far as they are aware (and she isn’t even sure) we are being transferred to another hotel by Royal Caribbean.

It was apparently the hotel manager who was knocking at the door.

It’s now just before 2pm and no updates. We haven’t eaten today yet either so have gambled on room service as no one knows when we are going. Reception said that each group is being moved individually.

I did have an update from the PR health department who has said that my partner doesn’t need to isolate at all now as he has no symptoms - due to the new CDC guidance. I must isolate until the 4th January and can leave on 5th January.

Did anyone tell you where you are being moved to?

No it was literally out of the blue the hotel manager knocked the door at 10:40am telling us to pack our bags for 12.

Care line and hotel reception haven’t provided any further information. We have been listening in the hallway and using the peephole to see if anyone is being moved but it’s all quiet.

@Bfsroyalit sounds like you are on quite the merry go round! I hope that they get everything figured out and things go more smoothly for you and your partner. Thank you for sharing your experience. It helps me feel we made the right decision to cancel our January 3rd cruise.

It really is the emotional rollercoaster of positive and negative information continually.

The dissemination of information has probably been where RCCL haven’t excelled - but I can give them some allowance for that as things are so ever quickly changing and whilst one team may be taking phone calls to help, another will be doing things to sort out the other bits and those may not align as quickly.

Communication was actually reasonably good on board the ship considering the reports that they are short staffed.

I definitely feel people should make the decision regarding travelling they feel is right for them at this stage. Had I have known what was going to happen to me I probably would have cancelled.

But equally we had a very good cruise and even though two stops were cancelled weren’t that bothered by that. Most people probably enjoyed the cruise but only a small proportion ended up testing positive and ended up having to quarantine that we know about.

There definitely will always be a risk to cruising and that is the balance that a lot of people are thinking about.

What is happening to you now with the quarantine is one of the reasons I will not cruise during this time.  Also, the masking.   Your attitude is admirable.  Best wishes to you.

We have an update as such. Royal care line have said we are being moved to an alternate hotel. This apparently isn’t RCCL decision they are unsure of the exact reason.

It was also all very last minute it seems and apparently RCCL is working on getting it sorted.

They have had a few calls now from PR guests trying to find out what is going on.

Our room service order from 1.5hrs ago also has gone astray and hasn’t arrived yet.

Best to pack some meals when going on a cruise now a day's One never knows where you might end up at. Whatever food you get be sure to ration it out, never know when or where the next meal might be coming from.

I just read the full 3 pages, I am literally on the edge of my seat waiting for the latest update.  I wish you all the best.  As @FlorenceItaly wrote - "Your attitude is admirable".

If all this was happening to my wife and I like it is to the OP, my wife would be hanging me by my Christmas balls in the  coat closet.

Got to make my post clean. 😁

That would be one way of entertainment with dealing with the boredom of being  quarantined.

Even though Puerto Rico is part of the US, have you considered reaching out to the British Embassy just to let them know that you are under a mandatory quarantine?  Not sure if it is for peace of mind, or if it could lead to more red tape upon arriving home, but it might be something to consider.

The drama continues. Again a knock at the door and the hotel manager tells us that we were meant to leave at 12 and escorts us to the front door. We tell him we have been waiting and have called reception multiple times and he confirms we need to get a taxi to the Double Tree Hilton in Condado.

It’s all very bizarre we are now standing on the sidewalk outside the hotel at the airport trying to contact the care team. I certainly don’t want to be getting into a taxi to some unsuspecting driver.
