RCI boards not loading. Why?

Recommended Posts

I have tried to access the regular Royal Caribbean board several times over the past week. Only one time would it load and it was very late afternoon or early evening about two or three days ago. I have checked other cruise line boards and they are loading normally.

Couldn’t find any other board to ask this question but I hope somebody has the answer. Thanks for any help

Your thread has been moved to the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum where it will be on topic. Folks often forget this forum is here. It is located at the top of the Cruise Critic Community list of forums right under Forum Assistance.

Whenever you wonder emo12.gif if you need help with a posting problem, check this forum first. Most often CC Help Jenn, Senior Community Support Specialist, has already addressed the matter. Note the large amount of "How to..." pinned threads toward the top of this forum's first page.

However, in your case it might be your device or browser. No one has reported any problems when they click on the Royal Caribbean International forum. Perhaps you are trying to get there by using a link in your browser's Favorites and the link is corrupted in some fashion?

Would you explain what happens when you try to "load" the board please.

First of all, thank you for these replies.

I just switched from my phone to my laptop, which I rarely use. On both devices I first  go to the “Boards” forum, then choose Royal Caribbean from the cruise line forum list.

On the laptop, although the search bar shows the right “address” for the RCI boards, a message appears in the middle of the screen:

This page isn’t working right now

boards.cruisecritic.com can’t currently handle this request

(Then in very tiny print underneath that:)

HTTP ERROR 500

When using my cell phone, I go through the usual way to pull up the RCI forum. When done a blank page pops up. At the top in the search/address block the correct search address appears . It seems the page is trying to load  but the screen stays blank. I tried waiting for ten minutes, occasionally tapping on the screen to make sure the link was still trying to load. Yet nothing ever loaded.

As I mentioned in my op,  this happened using my phone for several different nights. Finally I was able to get the site on the same device  early one evening but not thereafter. This isn’t happening when accessing any other forum or board.

Any ideas?  Hoping maybe the HTTP error gives a clue - ?

Kat, I forgot to particularly thank you for moving my original post.

Today I used a library computer and accessed the RCI board with ease.  A few minutes later I was able to access it using my phone. However, that was probably around 4:30 in the afternoon. When  I was able to access it a few days ago, it was late afternoon or early evening. Unfortunately I am not able to access it again tonight.

Still hoping for  a solution!

bronerys. thanks for trying to help.

I am technically inept, I’m sorry to say. How do I do that? I think I know how to clear cookies on a computer but certainly not on my cell phone. However, just a few minutes ago I got a notification re new post I started to follow yesterday afternoon on RCI boards and was able to get in via that link. Hoping that will work every time!

Thank you for that link, Kat! I followed some of the instructions. I actually had come across thenway to delete cookies info through Settings and then Safari but I was afraid to do it. When I read what a cache is and why it’s good to clear it sometimes, I did it. Was ae to pull up the RCI board without having to get to it through a notification of a post. Thank you and broberts as well for the needed help! You guys are great! 😊👍

  • 2 weeks later...

This has been happening for me also.  same as above. Only thing that doesn't work is the royal carribean forum.  I tried on both my edge and chrome browser on my laptop.  Never logged into it from chrome before.  Error I get is:

This page isn’t working

boards.cruisecritic.com is currently unable to handle this request.

HTTP ERROR 500

I like to check the cruise line forums in which I have cruises booked. I can check the NCL and Carnival Cruise Lines all the time but I can’t check the Royal Caribbean one. I have tried several times and it is not loading. What is going on?

Problem has not been solved! I can access every forum and rollcall apart from RCI.

I have tried on 2 browsers on my laptop as well as on iPhone and iPad.

nothing!

On the iPhone I just get a blank page.

On the laptop I get:

This page isn’t working

boards.cruisecritic.com is currently unable to handle this request.

HTTP ERROR 500

Hello all,

We're going to look into this; I was able to recreate using Firefox browser, but have no issues when loading the RCCL forum with Chrome or Safari.
