It was at the Explorers Lounge at 8:00 pm on Day 2. It does seem easy, but most of the contestants didn’t get past the 1st quadrant.

I am on the Ruby on 1/16, it’s first Hawaii cruise.  I was wondering if you might have heard anything about how many people will be on that sailing.  Thank you.

We are on the Jan 16 Cruise too!  It will be the first time Ruby Princess as been to Hawaii since cruising resumed but not the first ship there.  The first ship there is the Grand Princess that departed LA on Jan 4.  A lot of us are following a couple of threads on their experience so as to be better prepared for ours on the 16th. 

 

I am also following the Ruby Princess Jan 6th thread because we have a friend on that cruise (doing the first leg of a back to back) so we are keeping in touch with her and gleaning general information on how the Ruby Princess is doing in general.

Your passenger count went from 2000 when we boarded to 1700 as of last night.

I guess that the Pirate attack was thwarted, because the Ruby left port shorty after without any known  Pirate ships following them.  😁

For those of you on the Jan 16 sailing would you mind passing this post along to your RC?  I can’t say enough nice things about the team in Sabatini’s.  Rafal , Dragon,  & Max go home after your sailing. Randy and Gosia stay on a bit longer. 
Rafal keeps more space between tables than in Crown grill which we really appreciate. The crew has the highest level of expectations for themselves. Which translates to an incredible guest experience. They are the happiest team on board because they take care of each other. They have each other’s back on every table. 
 

The food is excellent as well. I had a Sorento sunrise cocktail. You can only get it here. It’s excellent.  I hope my pictures post! I’m going to do them separately as CC has been problematic (surprise!!!!)

They haven’t done it yet, but they did it on the Grand a few weeks ago.

Here’s the patters and MDR menus up till today. I’m only missing embarkation menu. I hope the photos load. The yes/no game was in the first few days.

Learned today that the conference center deck 6 forward will be used for testing the last day of the cruise.

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but what pier did you embark from?  I'm sailing on 1/31 and had to search for info that the the ship could be at Pier 27, or it might be at Pier 33.  Did they ever tell you specifically where to go or were you on your own to find the right pier? And thanks for all the great posts.

I assumed it was for passengers who have not had a booster shot.  San Francisco has a new requirement for passengers to have a booster or be tested before disembarking.  This is all so new that I’m uncertain if they will also test others who have to fly to another country.  I will post again if I find out.

This is not what you want to hear, but none of the cruise lines are transparent when it comes to COVID cases aboard.  It is not something they broadcast until it becomes a necessity such as when they are denied docking/tendering at a port because the cases onboard exceed some mysterious threshold (often 1% of the souls aboard).

I am leaving on the 31st too, when you approach the pier area you will not be able to miss the Ruby.  PIers in SF are along the Embarcdero St... ship loom large.  Most likely PIer 27.  Two piers are use only if more than one cruise ship in port.   Later I will check the cruise ship port schedule for SF to confirm.  But as I say you can't miss the ship.  I have taken may ships from SF.

Actually it is 1/10th of 1% of passengers.  Or one crew member.

Thank you so much HaveDogWillTravel for letting us follow along on your Ruby cruise.  And also for taking the time to answer all of our questions.  I super appreciate you posting the menus and patters.  Many of the menu items are the same as what I had on Sky last month, but there are a few new dishes I didn't see, so that's encouraging that I won't be repeating the exact same menus.
Love that you also took so many pictures to share with all of us.  
Getting very excited for our cruise on Ruby next month!

According to the restaurant manager in Club 

Class the Ruby currently has zero cases of Covid on board. 

 

With that said……,given that 12 out of 25% of about 700 guests disembarking on the cruise before us tested positive…doing the math it’s about .06 of passengers …there most likely are some asymptomatic passengers on board. 

 

I am extremely impressed by the masking compliance by passengers and of crew are meticulous in masking. As I sit right now in explorers waiting for the Liars club game show to start maybe 6 to 10 people out of 70 are not masked. It’s sip and cover.  People are complying.
