We are looking to do 40 days next year, 4 B2Bs and it will be quite stressful to go through that multiple times. Appreciate your help. I will be curious how many have covid on the ship if you can report.

seastheday Posted January 19, 2022 #235 Share Posted January 19, 2022 Hey jadn (or anyone who has cruised recently)…we board Enchanted tomorrow and I have no idea what the going rate is to tip the porters per bag? I know from experience they will be glad to inform us, loudly, if we appear clueless at the port. 🙄😂

I've tried both a saved photo & from my camera. Very frustrating.

If you can handle it, that's the best & fastest way of boarding knowing you'll have your luggage in the room so you can unpack ASAP. We've been doing it for years now. Of course we don't over pack any longer. 😉

Inflation may be pushing their expectations up. These guys are worth taking care of, since your bags are out in the open for a while and the porters are guarding them for you.

I've always assumed we were supposed to hand them over to porters. For me, it is about the wait as I do like to unpack ASAP and never thought it was an option. As long as it goes through the xray machine you can carry it on. Our large rolling duffle bags go through. We found out this once when using terminal 4 and no porters were around

A couple was called out of the lounge while we were waiting to reboard the ship and told they were needed back on board I just opened my door to step out of my cabin and saw the same couple being escorted by men in Hazmat suits spraying disinfectant behind them (think of the canisters you use to spray your garden) They had another guy in a hazmat suit with a luggage cart. We always carry on our own luggage and have never had an issue on 20+ cruises on Princess as well as other cruise lines. That way we can unpack immediately and don't have to wait for delivery. But then we don't travel with massive luggage - just one airline carry-on each plus a small bag that sits on top. We also carry it off.

A good reminder to keep space So, they could at least pack up their stuff? Thank you so much for posting, it means a lot to me and others I am sure. We trust you, you are there. Keeping space. Seriously thinking of getting "BACK OFF" shirts to wear during embarkation and turnaround days (we would have 3). I have witnessed someone during turnaround knocking an old man over to get ahead of him. What, to be the first in line at the buffet? That was precovid. Personally, and this is just me, and common sense, speaking, Princess should test the day before disembarkation and have people scheduled to come places, but not in groups and be tested and let them know that way. It would eliminate them all being crammed in one room breathing the same air and infecting others and also allow that person to pack and be quarantined in their room. I know I would feel better about that myself. All this testing and having to be quarantined and not being able to pack your stuff, really stresses me, as I have meds for my husband and a lot of things I have to bring for him for 40 days. I guess I am going to have to bring a BUG OUT BAG to bring on turnaround days. I am only 58 and never in all my life thought the world would come to this...EVER. Please stay safe and any tips you have would be appreciated.

They were tested the night before the first leg ended. Smart idea to have a "bug out bag" with meds, etc. Not sure why Princess can't keep folks separated the morning of the turnaround. Think about packing your safe up and valuables as you don't want anyone to do that for you. In December, we were able to have our covid test on board the day before turnaround. About 140 passengers met in a dining room to go over turnaround procedures and then we had our tests. There were two nurses doing the test and it went very quick. We were to be contacted in a couple of hours if there were problems. We have a b2b next week (God willing tests are negative) and have already decided that if testing was done off the ship, we would pack up the safe, medicines, electronics and other items in a carry-on to take to the terminal just in case. Some things I prefer to not be packed by crew.
