Question about B2B Logistics

We'll be going on a B2B on the Adventure this October in Cape Liberty. And we will be in the same room on both legs. Do we need to pack and get get the luggage out of the room, or do we just make arrangements with the room steward and leave everything in the room? How is the check-out/check-in done? Do we need to leave the ship, or is it done in a room someplace? What about customs; is it needed? Some one told me about a special B2B luncheon. What is that?  Thanks in advance for you help.

Since you are staying in the same room everything can be left except for your passport or birth certificate and ID. Your cabin steward will know you are b2b and try to make up your room first. If covid testing is still needed by then you will be tested on the next to the last day of the first cruise. On the final morning all b2b guests will meet in a lounge where you will be given your new cards. You will be escorted off the ship using the old card to log off the ship. Then you will be escorted through customs. You will then be taken back to the ship where you will use the new card to board. A letter will be left in your room giving all instructions.  There will be a lunch in the dining room for all b2b guests. It was really good so make sure you go.

* You will have access to your cabin once back onboard.

* And hope your test is negative...

Since cruising restarted, lots of people have reported that they could not access their cabin on the second leg of their B2B until all cabins are ready,  The reason is they are fogging special disinfectant in the hallways.

 

As usual with RCI, that may vary by ship and sailing.

Can you share how this changes if the second leg you are not in the same cabin.  Also is there a point when we can leave the ship and go into the port or at least the parking lot?

We've been fortunate, and since re-start, have had access to our cabin immediately once back onboard...Ovation, Liberty, and Navigator.

I did a b2b in October & December, both from Bayonne. At the end of the first cruise in October, after leaving the ship and clearing facial recognition, I departed the terminal and drove into Bayonne. I returned a few hours later, after boarding for the second cruise had started. I went to the front of the line,showed my transit pass    {given to me inside the terminal} then into the terminal for the security check to board the ship. Later learned the b2b passengers who did not leave the terminal, had to wait 1 hour to reboard due to a government health inspection of the ship.

 

In December, same process but I did not leave the terminal, boarded the ship without security since I did not leave the building. 

 

October cruise was in same cabin, had to bring CDC card and passport, which were checked. December cruise, moved 1 cabin over. Clothes on hangars were moved between cabins, all other items had to be packed in luggage. This was the pre covid policy. Recently many are saying they had to pack their clothes while switching cabins, I did not have to.

 

CDC card was not checked in December as was done in October

I would add that normally cruises less than seven days don’t usually provide the special lunch on turnaround day.

Question sort of related. I am cruiseing Navigator for a 7 day to Mexico and then returning to LA and have one day in a hotel before embarking again for a six day to Vancouver. How does the testing work at this point in time? Are you tested at the port or are you required to be tested again the day in between. Any suggestions would be appreciated if you dont fully understand the current protocol.

I guess it depends on the ship. It is turnaround day for us. We are pulling into Port Canaveral right now from the first leg of our B2B (5-nights). We will sail this afternoon for a 4-night voyage. We have been invited to a luncheon in the MDR today at noon. We were told there are about 50 of us.

A lot can change till your cruise and this assumes the cruise to Vancouver is on RCI. You should be able to test on Navigator which would be used to board the other ship.

As long as you are boarding another Royal ship, they will test you on the last full day of your first leg to meet the requirement.  We went from Allure to Odyssey with a night in between.  I went to Guest Services during the first cruise and they gave me a card with a QR code to scan in so we could schedule our tests.
