After our wonderful Philippine in-suite dinner I sent a note to the Executive Chef expressing our thanks.  Tonight we came back to the suite after dinner to find....

Along with a note saying "With Compliments" from Executive Chef Christian Davino.  I love Silversea!

So it's you, myster and 7 others in your suite!

Today we are steaming to Alesund, Norway with a scheduled arrival of 8:00 am tomorrow.   Seas are still a little rocky.   3 to 4 metre swells and winds at force 4 on Beaufort scale.  Cloudy and rainy.

Grey drizzling day in Alesund.   We had a very cool excursion booked which would have taken us to Troll Road.   Last night after dinner we noticed that the excursion had disappeared from our agenda and our expenses had been credited with the cost.   There was no notice of this cancelation.   Reception said that there had been an avalanche.    I'll check with shore excursions when they open at 5:00 pm.   Disappointing!  We're going to wait and see if the weather clears and perhaps go for a walk about.

Trollstigen is closed all day today (7am-7pm) due to planned maintenance work after it was hit pretty heavy during the winter. It has been closed for a long time after winter season to repair the damages, but it opened last week. It had one or two remaining days of closure to finish up the work and unfortunately for you, today was one of them.

Thanks so much for your info!  Very kind of you to take the time to clarify the situation! 🥰

We girded our loins, grabbed a brolly and headed out in the drizzle.  First some pics taken from the ship...

We got soaked on our kayak tour of the harbor, but got a great view of the wooden tower that will be burnt in a giant summer solstice bonfire.

And in the afternoon we took the Art Noveau walking tour and admired all the buildings and the design museum.

Highlight of the walk was the phone booth (with phone) that has been turned into a little library.

I think you are in Olden today?  In which case I believe there is also a brand new very large British ship there.  Hope they are not taking up all the dock space!

Looks as if the weather is still not too good, but improving for tomorrow, if my reading of the forecast is correct.  I   hope you are all having a good day.

The (huge) Iona is docked in Olden. We’re actually coming ashore by tender in Loen, just North if Olden. As well as the shore excursions, Silversea is running a shuttle into Olden, for folks interested.

Here’s a pic of the Briksdal glacier from our excursion:

Inclement weather did not detract from our excursion.  I stood outside on the boat for our sail around Lake Loen in order to get photos.  I must have looked like a drowned rat by the end of it and thankfully I gave up on vanity years ago.  😅  So here are the pics......

We are currently negotiating a Ukrainian meal to be served on the pool deck.  The Ukrainian chef Andrii is amazing.   Tonight we had plated lobster that was excellent.   I hate to cook so every meal at the Grill is plated for me.  This man is an amazing chef.

Mysty - I am sure you will be pleased that Iona, with her thousands on board,  is not going to Flam tomorrow!

Lola

Lola, some ship is taking our docking in Flam.  We will be tendering.   Bah humbug!

I think I remember that there is only room for one ship in dock in Flam - not sure.  But it is a lovely spot to be anchored off anyway.  Hope the train ride lives up to expectations.  Lots of Norwegian stuff to buy in the little shop!  Some of it nice.

OK, I want to know what's on the menu too!

Me too.  Ask for some cevapcici -- the national Croatian sausage that is prevalent all over the area.  Chris should put together a menu for you......
