Price reduced but refuse to give OBC

Recommended Posts

Someone on my rollcall noticed that the price for our cruise (June 10, 2022 Norway) has gone down significantly. She was able to get a large OBC. So, I called immediately. I'd found a better rate on a new code. The PVP I spoke to said I could get $760 OBC but we had to wait for a tech to make sure we could get that code. After an hour, the call dropped. When I called back, an hour on hold, the new PVP said she couldn't help because it would be a "down grade" since I've paid in full. We are under 90 days so of course I have paid in full. Any ideas how I can get the OBC like the other guest?

I am NOT happy with Carnival.

You usually have to match the price to the same category you are booked in.

You need a Personal Vacation Planner who knows what they are talking about.  Did you book Early Saver?  Would you have to change Cabins?  Did you already get a price drop?

Sounds like they spoke to a cvs and not a pvp, but i agree they should get a pvp.

Hi! We booked Early Saver. We wouldn't have to change cabins. Never got a price drop. Same category.

So, try again? I don't know what a cvs is. Maybe I've NEVER had a PVP.

cvs = Carnival vacation specialist. They are the ones who randomly answer the phones at the call centers as opposed to a PVP who you have his extension and talk to him/her each time you call.

Did you already change cabins from what you originally booked? or in any way change the original booking?

If you booked early saver you should just be able to submit this form https://www.carnival.com/core/requestforms/priceprotection.aspx however the room class has to be identical to do this approach.

I hesitate to fill out anything without knowing the total impact. You think you might be getting a big OBC and that may or may not be the case. I like to know any side effects before I pull the trigger.

Just be very careful to check everything before submitting the form.  A few years ago I filled out the early saver form and price-matched to a lower price for the exact cabin, getting a fare reduction.  What I had not noticed is that the fare I was matching to required a higher deposit than I had paid. Nothing happened right away, but a couple of weeks later I got an email saying my cruise had been cancelled because I hadn’t paid the full deposit.  It was a cove balcony, and they were all gone by then.  It all turned out in the end, but there were some anxious moments.  Now I always call my PVP for price reductions.

Good news! I found a PVP by searching on FB. Called and left her a detailed message. She already got the OBC on my account and I have not even spoken to her yet. She took care of it and left me a voice mail. I am thrilled! I owe it to you all. I had no idea the person you get when you call the 800 number was NOT a PVP. I now have one I already love and can share her information with my friend who ALSO didn't know we didn't have a PVP.

This board is the best!

👍 So glad that worked out for you. But, the question still remains why you (and presumably others) were turned down in the first place. That should never have happened.
