We ONLY cruise with free cruises. To pay taxes and fees only, is worth it to me, we always upgrade our room. Now that with both are prime in the casino we combine our offers to upgrade our room to a JS without paying any additional amount other than the taxes and fees. Cigar King Posted April 2, 2022 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2022 I got one from the casino recently. I just tossed it. It's not worth it for me to fly to Florida (or any other port) for their free cruise. That being said, if I lived closer to a port I would probably do it.

Mariner 4 and 5 night interiors start around $200/pp so the airfare is probably going to cost you more than the cruise ids worth.

Sounds like you're close enough to drive. If you wanted to get away for a bit on the cheap this could be what you're looking for.
leaveitallbehind Posted April 2, 2022 #9 Share Posted April 2, 2022 (edited) The "free" casino cruises are worth it to the cruise lines because the expectation - and likelihood - is that you will spend more than your fare in the casinos. If they are offering you one it is likely because you are a known casino player (maybe through MGM) and for them it is a safe bet. Just like being comped a room at a land casino. Junkhouse Posted April 2, 2022 #10 Share Posted April 2, 2022 We have been offered “several free” cruises and have booked one on each free offer. We are less then two hours from port so transportation isn’t an issue for us. We do have one 5 day cruise we are flying to but we are arriving at port city several days early to do a land tour. I never thought I would be taking less then a week cruise but have enjoyed these 4 or 5 day free cruises.

It was a 5 niter and able to upgrade to a balcony cabin at no additional cost. Had a great time. Got a good price on airfare and also had a United air credit from a price reduction on a previous air fare.

This may be true more often than not, but, in my case it's not. I generally don't do much more than my free play. This last cruise I think I spent 20 bucks there, and I did that on my wife's card. dad son team Posted April 3, 2022 #14 Share Posted April 3, 2022 I guess that would depend on if you want to go on a cruise. If I want to go, I still have to pay for air, dog kennel, hotel the night before since I fly in a day early, etc. What it does save in the end is the cost of the cruise. I am doing an 8nt on the allure in 3 weeks for $173 in a balcony. Saved me about $600pp which is what it would have cost to book it when I made my booking

Sure, and it could be worth it to do one of these if they were say a minimum of 10 days. Otherwise, they're not going to be worth it. Flying down for a week is not relaxing. You have to come home, just when things get enjoyable.
JPSemprini Posted April 3, 2022 #17 Share Posted April 3, 2022 How can someone else answer if it is worth it for you? If you play enough in the casino you will get all kind of offers for future cruises. If you are not sure if you play enough in the casino (maybe that is why you are asking the question in the first place) consider how much the cruise would cost without the casino offer. Non-gamblers (and those who do not gamble very much) pay a lot to go on cruises, getting one for free (less port charges, taxes, tips, and transportation to port, of course) seems to be a no brainer if you like to cruise in the first place. I am someone who never wanted to cruise, until I started to cruise. About six years ago our first cruise was subsidized by an offer from a local land based casino. We are taking our eighth cruise later this month and have never paid an actual cruise fare. Since we plan on gambling in the casino anyway we just sort of consider it payment on our next cruise. And if we win (believe it or not-- that sometimes happens) we come out ahead.

And see, for me, a 10-day or more wouldn't be relaxing because it's hard enough for my husband and I to get away from work for a whole week to be able to take a 7-day. A 10-day would require at least part of the next week. That ain't happening. As it is, we're doing a 7-day in October, and I hear every day about how he's just going to be so stressed out the entire time. We don't want to get a wifi package because we like to disconnect on vacation, but I guess we're going to have to. For us, 3, 4 or 5 nights are ideal. 7 is more interesting and fun, but pretty stressful. 10 would just not even be possible.
