Can you check in, leave luggage and leave ship again before sailing?

We are sailing out of Amsterdam. Is it possible to check in for the cruise, leave our luggage and then leave the ship to explore Amsterdam a bit more before sailing?

You can certainly drop off your luggage early and leave;  but after you check in very unlikely to be allowed to leave the terminal.  That is the decision of local authorities not the cruiselines and could certainly change.

Covid protocols are also in effect.  Last summer, if you were checking in for an Alaska cruise in Seattle, once you checked-in, you were expected to get on the ship and stay there.  Unlike previous seasons, passengers could board, then if for some reason they needed to, or wanted to come off the ship they could.

How early can you drop off luggage? Does it depend on port/country? We've got a side by side coming up.

Jeanne, since you’ll be boarding Beyond, and Celebrity in Florida at least has been booking earliest check-in for 10:00am, I would expect you wouldn’t be able to drop your luggage before 10:00. Can you book an all day tour and take the luggage with you? Our first time in Barcelona we had a random cabbie who took us around to our listed destinations, then waited or returned in time for going to the next spot… But we did not have our luggage with us to entrust to him. Spain Day Tours?

are you arriving the day of the cruise in AMS?  Is that why you need time to tour?
