Celebrity - MGM Partnership

RCCL/Celebrity has a partnership with MGM casinos.  It appears recently the level exchange has changed.  Elite plus on Celebrity was always given MGM Platinum  level. Now Celebrity Select to Zenith is only given MGM Gold (their 2nd lowest). I can't imagine anyone on Celebrity being thrilled with a gold MGM status (no perks at all).   Anybody know why this all changed?

MGM Rewards has changed, and generally not for the better. You used to get 25 rewards points for every dollar you spent at the hotel in Las Vegas (rooms, restaurants, gift shop). Since the change: one reward point per dollar.

It appears they are choosing to save their rewards for gamblers, not just spenders.

MGM Gold is the third level after Sapphire and Pearl.
Besides earning 20% more points Gold also gets no resort fees, priority checkin and access to Amphora at Borgata which means a lot to me.
I’m already Gold and the partnership with Celebrity saved me $4k on a Beyond suite so I’m not complaining.

They also changed the perks you can get on Celebrity too - I used to get additional onboard credit being a Platinum member, and since I booked my most recent cruise through Celebrity and not MGM (and got the regular onboard credit), I don't get the additional anymore.  Plus there was a tour, a welcome amenity, and other things that they're not offering anymore either, unless it's booked through MGM. I was told to check with the Blue Chip club at the casino when I got on board to see if there was anything they could do, but I don't see anything happening necessarily with that, even if I *do* play to the level I typically do.  It's disappointing.

No perks at all?.  I think no resort fees and free valet are great perks!  I’m just thrilled the partnership is still in place given pandemic challenges. I’ve already saved several hundred dollars this year alone on one trip to Vegas!

I actually just did a status match from Elite to MGM Rewards a couple of weeks ago on site at the Park MGM. The rep there seemed to be completely unaware of the match tiers, and after much discussion with her manager matched me with Pearl. When I pushed back she told me there was something flagged in the system and to come back later. I'm not really a gambler and had booked our room through Amex so had a different set of perks anyway and I didn't follow up, but in practice this whole situation seems to be up in the air.

We sign up for it every year.   Elite and above get gold status.  It use to be Platinum.    MGM redid their tier status.   Gold gives free parking, free valet,  waiver of resort fees.   The resort fee and parking amount to $60 plus dollars a day at the Bellagio in Vegas.

you use to be able to get matching status at many other casinos with the MGM status that also gave great perks.    Some do and some don’t now.

One think about valet is you are responsible for any damage that is done with your car.

I never use  a valet but do leave my keys at Park N Go.  Hopefully laws are different in FL.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

We live in Vegas and the free parking alone is worth the annual stop at any MGM property to renew.  We are not gamblers, have tons of great local restaurants off the strip but having on show parking is a nice treat, especially since some places no longer do free parking for locals.

As AndyCapn mentioned, it is caused by the M Life program changing over to MGM Rewards.
