We're trying to decide whether to purchase some on board credit for our cruise on Enchanted Princess. I know some credits are non refundable but am I right in thinking that this type would be refundable if not spent? Thank you for your help

Yes, any onboard credit that you purchase is generally refundable.

Also, most OBC provided by a third party travel agency is also refundable.

I do take some cash with me for additional tipping (optional).  I charge casino play to my folio.  It is more of a hassle to get back your "purchased" OBC on the last day.  As I understand it, they will refund $25 or less at the pursers' desk, but the rest would have to be returned as a check.

Or get it back though the casino the last night.

Just read a post where the casino was closed on the last night without any advance notice so, something to be aware of.

I really do not understand why yo would purchase OBC, when it is you who would be paying for it with most likely the same credit card.

Budgetary reasons, access to more cash than available on the credit line, profitable financial shenanigans, other people paying... plenty others.

@JF - retired RRT Everytime I see you post, I remember where we lived after we were married...... Yucaipa! DH mainly grew up in Calimesa!

Small world.😁

We've lived all over the country. DH was an ironworker and followed the work. I could work anywhere there was a hospital...so off we went.

As long as your account is backed up with a credit card, you really don't need to pre-purchase OBC.  You can certainly do so if you wish...but it all comes out of the same pot at the end.

As Brits it is worth us pre purchasing OBC as the USD exchange rate we get from Princess is quite a bit higher than even the best credit card rates we can get.

Yep. Never had that problem before but apparently it's always closed if your last port is Victoria and you disembark in Vancouver. They told us they sail too close to land for the casino to be open. We normally cash out the last night but were unable to do so. In "theory" they will mail me a check for the $750 I was going to cash out. I felt bad about not having any money to tip the steward and a few others who made the voyage special but all of my cash was tied up in the stupid close casino. Lesson learned and hopefully they will actually send the money as I can't really afford to just "blow off" that much money.
