Carnival Freedom Funnel Fire

Many years ago(1995) I was on the Celebration when it caught fire in the engine control room. 2 days at sea with no power until Ecstasy came to rescue us. We had to transfer via lifeboat and were assigned same cabin number on both ships. No effort was made to transfer to like cabins. Luggage was delivered to cabins. We couldn't bring any bags onto lifeboat with us. This should be a much easier process to organize as passengers can walk from one ship to another and appear to still have power to hotel operations.

Conquest is fully crewed.  So you have two crews for one ship

i was thinking of clerical & logistic staff, to hand over the keys, finalize any payments (if applicable), answer any of the hundreds of questions from passengers.

I know some of these folks probably needed to get back home Saturday, but spending an extra couple of days on the beach in Grand Turk would be nice.

Ha.
i was telling my parents and my son overheard. He said he was glad we weren’t on Carnival right now.  My response was I love Grand Turk. I’d be happy to stay. Leave me there forever.

I agree 100% as I'm semi-retired.

IF you're going to be in an emergency on a cruise ship, having an extra day in Grand Turk and an extra day at sea would be the ultimate prize. I feel for people who have flights, family, pets, jobs, other appointments. Hopefully, they're not too upset.

There are certainly worse ports.

Im in the same situation. Not semi retired but my job is more flexible. I do realize it isn’t ideal for everyone.

I imagine most folks on Freedom will want to roll their own luggage to the Conquest.  I get my own luggage from my home, to the airport, to the cruise port.  But it is another logistical consideration.

Problem being not everyone can carry all their luggage over. Most older folks depend on porters for boarding and debarkation. And some simply over pack.

Here’s a question.  Usually when a ship is in port the fun shops have to be closed and casino is closed unless the port allows casino and gambling.  I know grand Turk is duty free port  but just wondered if the casino and fun shop would be allowed to open in grand Turk? Anyone know?

The luggage transfer shouldn't be too bad...

If they can find forklifts, it's simple.

If they can't, the carts used that fit in the elevators to bring bags up to each deck might fit down a gangway.  Worst case, they'll need to find a double-wide ramp.

Dont think all Crew will leave or how many. Though this will help out with any Ships short of Workers as some will fan out to dozen other Ship's
