your favorite buffet item?

They have vanilla soft serve and vanilla frozen yogurt. I can confirm that they taste different.

They've been serving a vanilla soft serve that is icy and not nearly as good as the typical soft serve. The "old" soft serve was more akin to McDonald's or Dairy Queen - by far my favorite. The new vanilla (or at least the only vanilla that the Sunshine seemed to have) is more like Chick-Fil-A's Icedream.

Strange food this goat meat.

When I was in the military I attended the Combat Casuality Care Course where we learned how to do various medical procedures on goats. Last night of the course there was a big BBQ. Cabrito was on the menu.

Yes to the iciness of the products. I was told it's not the product that is the issue but the high volume demand that makes them chill the product faster that causes the ice crystals. I won't touch the stuff anymore, no longer creamy.

I can tell when it comes out of the machine if it's the creamy ice cream or not. So if it's not the creamy soft serve, I let the kids have all they want and I just head back to the cakes and cookies.

Well yes, you can see the ice granules on it. 😞  I don't go near those machines but you can't keep me away from the gelato on Vista Class ships. Gelato is more dense with concentrated flavors than ice cream and less fat, too.  🙂

Because it's not really ice cream but Ice Milk. There was once a distinction that in order to call a product Ice Cream it had to have a certain percentage of milk fat in it. Groups lobbied to have that changed.

I am by no means a buffet snob, but I tend to go with other options like Guy's and Blue Iguana just out of preference. But, I love a buffet breakfast! Almost everything at breakfast is good (except the powdered eggs lol).

My wife loves Blue Iguana. Me - there's not much that beats a hot and fresh Guy's burger with fresh fries.

i, too, tend to get Guy burger for lunch then grab a table in the buffet.  i like dining in air conditioning especially with a view of the ocean.

we tend to find ourselves at the buffet for dinner if we're on a roll in the casino (dranks!) and time gets away from us.  in that instance i usually dont want to go back to the room and change into long pants and collared shirt for MDR.

If you like cake and cheesecake, try the Funfetti Cheesecake Cake at lunch which is only available on embarkation day, delicious!!!  I always get two pieces and bring one back to my stateroom for later.  Sometimes the second piece accidentally finds its way into my stomach and I have to get a third piece for later.  I have tried most of the cakes offered at lunch only and enjoyed most of them.

Also, I like the Deli and salad bar but love ordering over easy fresh eggs for breakfast with a couple of yummy croissants and cinnamon pastries washed down with chocolate milk.

I mentioned the funfetti cheesecake too - my favorite dessert item all cruise, and it's the first one! I eat a week's worth of desserts before the ship even leaves the home port!

mz-s....I'm with you, I always got in the cake line before anything else....they also had a coconut creme cheesecake cake that was good and carrot cake and raspberry champagne and peanut butter, red velvet, hummingbird cake, OMG, my mouth is watering..

I have to wait until my next cruise in November to try the cakes, hope they still have them available.

Now, if Carnival would also offer a pie selection that would be good (not the yucky pie served in the MDR).

Their cakes really are delicious anymore. I remember some years ago their cakes used to be really tasteless and bland. They looked better than they tasted. They're really improved. I do miss the Chocolate Extravaganza though, I haven't noticed it in a few cruises.

At breakfast - Passion Fruit Orange Guava juice in a yellow or green plastic cup.

ok, technically, it’s a flavored beverage, and not really a juice…. 🙂

I like the OJ with the champagne I bring on board.

I am platinum level, and have never eaten at the buffet for dinner.  At lunch, I like the Mongolian Wok.

Overall, I guess my favorite buffet item is the lemonade that I mix with the bottle of vodka I have in my stateroom.  😁

The hash browns on the breakfast buffet are in my opinion uneatable .  And I think I’m the only person that actually likes the Powdered eggs😂

Now you do know those are liquid, pasteurized eggs and people only call them powdered, right?
