Ellaleah Posted June 30, 2022 #26 Share Posted June 30, 2022 I did 15 days on Princess to Hawaii 1/22. There were a lot of free movies to chose from.

It’s disappointing to hear that Carnival does not have the same interactive TV options that Holland has. I just got off my first Holland America cruise, and yes, you'll be disappointed with what you find on Carnival's in-room television. In addition to the TV offerings on Carnival being horrible compared to HAL, the TV itself will be a big disappointment to you. It's almost like putting a television in the cabin was an afterthought. (maybe the Vista or Excel class ships are better, haven't been on any of those yet). Edited June 30, 2022 by groundloop

But unfortunately it's wasted since there's no programming on it nor can you stream your own programming. The TV's are also mounted such that you can't access the other HDMI ports.
DPTexas Posted July 9, 2022 #29 Share Posted July 9, 2022 I received and answered the survey, too. I may skew some of the results because I do not cruise to watch tv and only watch the safety info and some of Shaq's episodes. We usually don't even have it on after the first day. Of course, I don't watch much tv normally anyway. Maybe I would opt to watch a bit more tv if I would get off the CC forums! (I'm having my piano tuned - which takes several hours, so this is how I am spending my time.) LOL!

A qualified technician can tune a piano in less than 1.5 hours. Maybe your tuner has a tin ear. LOL!

I'll keep him though because he is a certified piano tuner (CPTS), keeps up with the newest electronic tuning equipment and very qualified with years of experience. He also tunes pianos for area churches and schools. What I appreciate is that he takes his time, not only tuning my piano but also doing a regular check-up "under the hood" so to speak. So, I'll keep the piano tuner who has been tuning my piano for years and year, and I'll look on CC for the 2 to 2.5 hours while he does his skilled work so I can later do mine at the piano. Happy cruising and take care.
JT1962 Posted July 10, 2022 #32 Share Posted July 10, 2022 I completed the survey and maybe read too much into some of the questions, but it seemed like they were wanting to see how many would be willing to pay for additional or certain programming. I can see them offering several levels of tv programming options, similar to the different wifi packages - Basic package, add movies / sports / kids programming for an additional fee, adult movies, etc. They need to increase revenue and charging for additional tv programming may be a way to get revenue from those that don’t spend money in the casinos, shops or bars. Have a pool at home. We live in Florida and get enough sun. For us, the ship is more transportation than anything. We do wish the TV offerings were more expansive I agree you, I'm not a drinker or a partier. I began cruising in 1993, and Carnival's TV service was great back then. Once I arrived in my cabin for evening usually around 10:30 or so. There was always something good to watch and there were multiple options. My last cruise was in October 2021, a short 5-night getaway, we boarded the ship on a Monday. I was kinda tired and thought I would enjoy Monday Night Football from my cabin, after we had our 6pm dinner, looked around a bit and headed to our cabin to watch the NFL. No NFL on the TV, hardly anything I was used too. We got up and went to the sports bar, the game was on in there, I asked the bartender about the sports shows and games, he said Carnival no longer provides sports in your cabins and the whole TV channel line I agree you, I'm not a drinker or a partier. Several of the channels, I liked and was used to was gone. The channels were very limited on the ship. My next cruise is on Mardi Gras on July 23rd, I heard it's the same channel line-up and the MLB was shown in the Sport Bar or Tennis. We are not going to worry so much about it, if they offer a paid package at some point, I may consider it. Hope we get a survey.

Rare Honolulu Blue Posted July 10, 2022 #36 Share Posted July 10, 2022 I didn't get this survey. ☹️ Carnival's TV offerings, IMHO, seem to have taken a turn for the worse in about 2018. Before then, they had some local stations and a few cable networks of more interest to me. I think this was about the time they got rid of the channel that read off (literally) the Fun Times.
