We have qualified as BOTH retired military and also first responders. They gave us just one OBC of $100, which is good, considering we are Canadian. Nothing in the conditions appears to limit this to Americans.

This is the exact info I was looking for!  Canadian Vet also.

Does this offer work for retired law enforcement officers, or just active officers?  I retired from LEO job in April 2020, and have retired credentials, just curious as to whether this would work for retired LEO's.

No Idea.  Just try it.  Otherwaise have you TA ask for you.

I contacted HAL by phone yesterday and got the $100 credit easily. We are booked on Rotterdam for a 21 day B to B next February (Cat VS) so it is a relatively small amount, but every little bit helps.

I got mine approved for my Sept 3 Canada/NE and Jan 5 Panama Canal. HAL sent me an email and so did my TA. She said if she ever gets a chance to chat with a HAL business development rep, she’s gonna suggest they link this to the Mariner accounts so it will just be automatically added each time.

Thanks for starting this thread, have marked the link for future reference.  Unfortunately, our request was denied because they don’t combine this with a casino offer.

This is what I figured, but, thank you for confirming.  It is the same way with the Shareholder OBC, and understandable.  I only applied for our one sailing that is not a casino offer.

Thank you for this. I  submited for this but was denided ,It does not appley to Grand cruises. maybe next time.

True, GV-wise, however, for any other bookings just apply.

As mentioned, it never ‘hurts’ to apply / submit the form. We’ve had both a positive credit and a non- applicable notice sent to us within 24 hours of application.

No worries…

Small change to some perhaps.

Nice touch for responders & other active & retired vets.

Go for it.

Be well.

Bob

I think this is brilliant!  Thank you for sharing the link!  I am keeping my fingers crossed that I receive it.  I have been working as a nurse in an ER for 40 years.  These last two years, dealing with the increasing community violence and covid, has made me feel as though I work in a war zone.  This will be my first vacation since 2020, and the on board credit would be used for a much needed massage!

I also send thanks to the OP for starting this thread.  I submitted booking numbers for 3 upcoming cruises, time will tell if they are eligible ones or not.  It never hurts to try!

If you go to this link:

https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/deals/military-healthcare-firstresponder-appreciation/cruise-deals.html?destcode=multi_MHFR2021_1&csvfilename=multi_MHFR2021_1

you will find the cruises that are eligible for the credit. Since around 400 cruises are included, you can use the menus at the top to narrow the list to the cruises you are on to see if it is eligible.

When I applied (Royal Air Force veteran) I received the following response:

"We sincerely apologize for any disappointment, however the military/healthcare offer is not available for international guests.

We appreciate our active and retired military personnel and are thankful for your service."

No clarification as to what constitutes an 'international' guest.  I thought presumably anyone not from the United States but now it seems Canada is classed as 'domestic' too.  Bit of a kick in the teeth to be told that my service is appreciated but not worthy of the OBC.

I replied expressing my disappointment, especially given that other Carnival Corp cruise lines do include UK Forces in their military appreciation offers.  I also mentioned the line is called Holland America and that the UK military have had long-standing ties with both the Netherlands and the United States.  HAL have chosen not to reply.

Strange. We definitely got it, but that might be since we booked through our special TA who is US based. Sorry they are so restrictive.

I've never received any replies, after applying last week.

Called HAL & they verbally confirmed that our $325 OBC had increased $100 to $425.

Great.  Just nowhere to confirm OBC amount, online nor app, before our cruise in 2 months...
