york survey Posted July 14, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2022 I'm due on the EDGE in a couple of weeks and I'm in the market for an apple watch. Given that I have a load of OBC. Anyone know if they sell them onboard. If not I'm sure my better half will be able to spend it! Any advise appreciated Stuart
Rare cruisestitch Posted July 14, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2022 Probably not and if they do have any they would be older models.
Saab4444 Posted July 14, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2022 On Apex in June there was not a single Apple product in the store and they were not sure to receive anything during this European season. Very bad if you had plans to use a lot of onboard credit...
Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted July 14, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2022 Folks should research what they can use their OBC for, you can load it at the casino and cash it all out. The latest Apple watch is the series 7, it was on sale over the past few days due to Amazon's prime day, but if it's even available on the edge, it will most likely be sold at full retail cost. Furthermore, in Sept the new Series 8 comes out and will most likely be around the same price as the Series 7. So to me, buying a soon to be outdated watch at full retail price seems like a very bad way to utilize an OBC; YMMV.
jwlane Posted July 14, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2022 Multiple posts have noted that Apple products onboard are older models, with some already outside of warranty.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted July 14, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2022 I've been on 4 cruises this year and all of the Apple product was all pre-pandemic models including watches. On Silhouette for the European voyage they sold out all inventory of Apple products because Europeans could buy vat free (20-21%) and the found the price acceptable. I spoke to a representative from the franchise that runs the ICafe (it's not Apple but an agent) and he said until Celebrity totally sells off their old inventory they will not be replenishing. I assumed he knew what he was talking about but who knows.

As an authorized retailer; warranty begins with the retail purchase date - not based on it being an outdated model. You would have warranty coverage but if it is an outdated model and not supported you could have an issue if you need to use the warranty. One generation old shouldn't be an issue though.
