Seeking Help from Experienced MSC Cruisers Regarding Yacht Club Deposit Refund...MSC Says I'M OUT OF LUCK!

Nobody said to assume a deposit is refundable....I always ask before I give money.

What exactly is the TA being paid for if not to inform the client of the basics?  Personally, I don't use TA's because it's easier for me to deal directly with the cruiseline.  I've ended up "losing" more because the TA didn't do things in a timely manner.

Anyway, in this case the TA is compensating the client....which is paramount to admitting he was lax in his duties.

But if people don't assume that the deposit is refundable I can't see why the TA shall inform the client that it isn't refundable.

Had a couple of changes. TA has always been able transfer our nonrefundable $398 deposits to future new bookings. No $100 change fee like Celebrity.
P.S. Also our TA gives us about 5%obc.Many have posted they get 10% from theirs.

10% back?  That's insane.

That's what we have for our next cruise.  😄  That's including taxes and port fees.  If you back those out, it's even more.

Just got back from a week on board the Seashore. Went to future cruise desk, Suzane, booked us 5 more sailings in YC and got a total of $500 OBC per cabin. MSC will turn these bookings directly over to her and we anticipate another $500 OBC per cabin from her (5%).

I am sorry that you are going through this. The Yacht Club has been a non-refundable deposit because they had so many people booking it and then canceling, This is a TA mistake that they did not advise you of this. Plain and simple.

Did Suzane replace Buse? She was future cruise rep in May. Is Buse coming back?

I believe Robert will be on there also

In June that was the plan. Mr. Balla's whole team in the Yacht Club were slated to open the Seascape. But on our July 9 to 16th cruise on the last day Mr. Balla told us "Everything is now up in the air"about going to Seascape. He did not elaborate and we did not press him. We made mention of this to one of his team and they confided in us that the Director (Mr. Balla) has been offered a promotion to Hotel Director. But when and on what ship???

P.S. We will try to find out more from Mr.Balla at the end of this month.

Yes. The deposits $398 became nonrefundable during the pandemic, but they are transferable to a NEW booking without a fee. Our TA reminds us constantly every time we make a booking of any cruise lines policies. We believe when selecting YC one of the perks is one free change, so we assume one could change bookings multiple times for a fee ?

If we have Seashore booked for Oct. 29, should we anticipate having a whole new (and inexperienced) team in the YC because all the "good ones" will be on Seascape?

Very good question. We know a few really do not want to go to Brazil and are hoping for transfer yet to come for Seascape. One even suggested going home and waiting for another offer from MSC than go to Brazil.

No, they wouldn't do that.  And the folks move around constantly, so you will get an experienced crew on any ship.  Might be some rookies, but a stellar crew altogether.

Robbie Sherrifs on Meraviglia was awesome.  He started off on Mera earlier this year, then they re-depoloyed him to Europe.

Great guy.

How was he awesome? What did he do to make Mera awesome?

He made promises could not keep and could not fix a secondary issue.

Waited till last night of cruise to tell me to contact shoreside.

Just to make sure I am not mistaken, he was the Scottish guy.

Helped me in moving cabins, and anything we asked for we got.

If the promotion is true, We are happy for him but not for us. Please keep us posted on who will be YC Director on Seascape when it arrives in the US.🥂

Yes, he is the Scottish guy.
We had him on Meraviglia in November for our B2B.

we had several issues that did not get handled. He kept apologizing for how bad it was but, that was all.
When he realized we were staying on another week, he became somewhat embarrassed.  Finally offered us a “free” dinner in specialty restaurant.

We accepted his offer and concierge arranged our reservation.
When we finished meal, waiter said bill was taken care of.
On last morning , we received final invoice from cruise. “free” Meal was charged to our room account .
Just laughed it off as this was SO MSC. We paid room invoice and chalked it up to trusting the wrong person.

Hi Pat,

I would not have expected anything less from MSC.

I would have loved to see his face when he saw you were b2b.

You normally stay in the YC RS don't you? You should have had everything taken care of.

Hi Steve ,

yes, we were in the RS for the entire 15 days.

MSC tried to change us to other side for second week, after final payment . Another issue for TA to handle.

And, yes, we were surprised that it became so difficult to get issues resolved.
Frank never complains about anything . I was surprised When he requested meeting to discuss the issues with Mr. Robbie.

Our next cruise is Divina in Exec Suite.

I know we have no access to balcony but having the extra room will be nice. ( and I do not like red )

We ended up not using  balcony on Meraviglia because it was either too hot , many workers trying to fix hot tub, and no view when seated or using loungers, due to metal from railing down.
we spent most of our time up on pool deck or lounge.

And casino, in my case . 😉

Pat

I believe Buse was the Italian future cruise manager. She was on Seashore when we got off July 2.
