Not sure about Privee. Opinions?

Sorry about this since it’s a bit off topic. I get the impression that the goat cheese soufflé might be tolerable even for those who don’t like goat cheese (like me), meaning that it is so mild as to not be offensive. I love strong cheeses but the taste of goat cheese does not agree with my palate. Opinions? I know you have them! Then we can get back on topic. Thanks!!

Try it  if you do not like it they will bring you something else

I like goat cheese so hard to comment

now Blue cheese  that is another story LOL

I'm sure it is a lovely experience.  However, on our last cruise, I heard someone mispronounce it as "Privy."  Can't get that out of my mind, now!

I skipped ahead so haven't read most of the posts here.  But if you are concerned about not knowing enough people in advance to take advantage of Privee, I suggest you join your roll call.  Admittedly, since Oceania introduced the "free" ship's tour fewer people have been on roll calls, but in the past that was how I met people for private tours I was setting up as well as arranging for private dinners in advance.

It can't hurt to join the roll call.  If there aren't many people, or at least not many you think you'd want to be stuck with for a meal (!), it can't hurt!

Also, many of us set up Meet & Greets the first or second night of the cruise.  That's another way to meet people.

ver had grated Pecorino (alone or in combo with Parmigiano) on your pizza or pasta?

It’s goat cheese and, for many folks, hard to tell the difference from a cow cheese

Just for accuracy - pecorino is not a goat cheese. It is made from sheep’s milk. In fact pecorino is not a specific cheese but is the Italian name used for any cheese made of sheep’s milk.

Pinot,

I was told Oceania had not opened up Privee for booking for our January 18 sailing from Buenos Aires to Santiago. Strange it would be opened for your March sailing but that is the word I got. If your Ace TA tells you it is Open for Jan. 18, I would appreciate hearing from you as I want to reserve it for a group dinner.
Thanks,

Mauibabes

Something is wrong.  I booked and paid for Privee 3 months ago for our February 7 cruise to SA on Marina through my TA and have written confirmation from O.  Press your agent harder.

Best of luck!

My TA booked us in ona Feb 27th sailing on the Marina in S. A. What we have in common is 1. We both have reservations; 2. As FF constantly laments, our TA held our hands and did it for us instead of DIY.

See posts 43, 46, 48. Whether it’s excursions, specialty restaurants, La Reserve, Priveé...., there can be human error in Miami when it comes to “opening” bookings for optional purchases on specific cruises. I’ve noticed that it mostly happens with multi-segment cruises where the O functionary in Miami will “press the button” for one cruise segment but not the other. The problem (in all its guises) is often discussed here on CC. (Witness the ongoing fiasco with excursions related to Venice port changes)
And cajoling by the right TA or O regional sales Rep or even one of a handful of long-serving O cruise consultants/reservation supervisors can get things corrected. But, that can take time as well.

To Condo, Pinot and Flatbush, thanks for your follow up. I will reconfirm tomorrow with a couple different Specialists in Miami and keep pressing until I am successful.

Ah Persistence 🤪 We are not on a multi segment trip, just 20 days BA to Santiago so those issues should not come into play. Again, thanks for the info.

SUCCESS 🤪

My Specialist was able to get Prive booked today after being locked out last Thursday so all good for our January sailing on Marina. Thanks for pushing the persistence button on my personal dashboard as I would have let it go for a few weeks.  I know, Snooze and Lose!

Now we can have dinner for our 10 Besties when we leave port on the 21st 👍🙏

Ciao,

I would look at the La Reserve menus   then if you do not think you would enjoy  what is being served   it is not for you

We booked  one of the Specialties   & asked for  a table with a view   for our special occasion

Privee is very nice  space  but  nicer to share with friends

All comes down to Personal choice

Enjoy the cruise

We’re doing La Reserve on Christmas Eve on the Marina. The wine pairings you won’t find in the specialty restaurants. Plus the menu will offer some new dishes.

But if you do not think you will like the food   then it is a waste of money & an evening for some

It is not for everyone

I do not drink much   do not like some of the fancy foods  that are on the menus so for us   not worth it

YMMV

Well there’s always a selection for everyone. However as many ho on Oceania to enjoy the food my original comments may be useful for others.

of  course your comments may be useful to others  but no need to quote my post then

I was  offering a suggestion to  look at the menus  then decide

Not everyone  may want to  eat in La Reserve if the menus are not appealing to them

I would not pay $100 PP for dessert   but yes others might

We have had 12 in Privee and we were not crowded.   On the November 2021 Marina crossing, We had a lovely “commitment ceremony” in Grand Lobby and then all headed to Privee for dinner afterward.   There are several options for dining now - you can chose from Polo and Toscana mixing for each course, a new option  that was advertised is to go out to the markets with the Executive Chef and pick out fish or other things for him/her to prepare (obviously this wasn’t an option on this cruise due to being in middle of the Atlantic) or work with the Executive Chef and create your own menu (you get to keep your copy they printed up).  This is the option we chose and it was magnificent - Chef Frederic C. even created a two layer wedding cake that was exquisite.    One of the violinists from the string quartet came and played as well (I did tip her). This request was granted via the GM.

I would say to request a meeting when you board with the Executive Concierge and , explain what you would like and see what they can and are willing to do.  If it’s possible, they will make it happen.   We only had 400 people on board last November.    Also remember that if the Chef is cooking for the LaReserve  dinner on your Privee evening, he may not be able to do a special menu and you get the Polo/Toscana options which are great choices too.

JMO  on La Reserve

I know many people rave about  it BUT

We are not into  fancy rich food   & 1 glass of wine for me  is plenty  more  & I may not make  it to dessert

Looking at the menus   I would  see maybe one or 2 dishes that I would eat   so for us it is not worth the expense

Everyone  has their likes & dislikes

I dislike when others say "Oh you will love xxx"   well  maybe they would but maybe they will not

Let people make their own choice

YMMV

Fortunately they have the menus available for La reserve.  There are three different ones. If you like a menu, then pick an evening they will be serving that menu.
I cannot wait.  They sound delicious to us!  But they may not to everyone.

Is there a way to see when the LaReserva is happening?

When you log into your cruise under the dining tab (if the dates are out for your sailing) it should have  LaReserve dates & menus listed  for what nights they are open

Well we have not paid in full yet and we are further out than the 75 days so I guess we will have to wait unless I ask my TA. Thank you!

Mauibabes We are on the same

cruise as you in SA. I believe you said you had your O person take care of your reservations.

Ski mom,

Fantastic, we will have to sit down for a glass of some beverage 🍷🥂🤪 and definitely meet up at Bruce’s scheduled Meet and Greet on January 18 at 4:30.
I called our Rep and there had been an issue within O as the Prive reservations program was NOT open for reservations last week for our cruise. She tried again for me on Monday and low and behold it was OPEN for bookings. We just had it charged to our On Board account as we have SBC available to pay the $300 fee for the night in Prive. We have not made our FP yet, not till 8/21 so not far off.
FYI, if there are not large scale cancellations on the 21st. it is going to be a very full ship, hearing about 1200 passengers currently.

Looking forward to meeting everyone soon.

We are happy to raise a glass! 🍷 🍺 🍹

I have nothing showing under La

Reserva or Privee as of now. Nothing to click to take me to the next step.

Last night there were many categories listed as available as opposed to a week ago. We shall see!

Call O tomorrow and ask the Specialist to make your reservation unless you have A TA and then have him/her make the call. Reservations should be available but ?????

You are on, 🍷🥂🍸🍹, especially at the Captain’s reception 🤪. We are always in Horizons or Martinis nightly for Happy Hour.
