Why choose MSC Yacht Club? Is it worth it?

The menus for the non YC restaurants are all online days in advance so how hard can it be to provide them for YC?

We have special dietary needs. To accommodate them, we were always given the YC menus a day in advance so we could choose our meals and give the kitchen time to make any alterations. This occurred both on the Seaside YC in the Caribbean and on Fantasia YC in the Med. They cover the procedure when you first board and meet with the maitre d. We saw everyone in YC have a quick meeting that first day, even if no special needs existed. This is typically the time they ask you about what you'd like for your table in YC, what approximate time you think you want to dine, etc.

When I was on Seashore, the Priority Elevator feature wasn't active. I've used it on other ships but it didn't happen on Seashore. Even when it works, it isn't always better than standard elevator service (Meraviglia). On Seaside, certain elevators worked better than others.

Consistent inconsistency....MSC. 😉

@oldsweets:

We found that the use your wrist band for expedited elevators didn’t  work at all for us all week nor for any of the Butlers which probably contributed to the debarkation frustrations.

Seashore was not designed with priority call service like Seaside.  Butler should have explained it to you.  Seashore was designed to manage capacity and flow by what floor people indicated.  You should have noticed that there were no floor buttons in the car, so the "priority" call wouldn't help you.

What I was told was that the spot under the keypad (where the numbers are) is where the YC wristbands would be used if the system was active. It would still work the same way as far as selecting the desired destination but the summoning of the elevator would be expressed if the system was in use.

We embark on our cruise in a week on the Divina.

Just received email from MSC.

It appears they are starting a pre cruise concierge type service .

First time we have received this. Must have been started 2022.

Our last YC cruise was November 2021.

You have made an excellent choice in booking a MSC Yacht Club suite,
and I can’t wait to welcome you on board.

Luxurious accommodation and exclusive services are only the beginning to what awaits you. No request is too great and no detail too small to make your experience a memorable one, starting now.
Please submit attached form with your preferences during your cruise.
mini bar bottle of liquor choice from list
pillow menu
newspaper choice delivered daily.

The form only allowed one name and selections .
can I assume we will get another for the other guest in the cabin?
After all…
We don’t like the same pillows🙄, or……
liquor.😁

Customize your experience by choosing your daily newspaper sin.
Ensure sweet dreams by selecting the perfect pillow to meet your needs for a restful night of sleep.
Let us know your preferred drink of choice and get ready to say bon voyage!

Please let us know your preferences by completing the form below* two days before your departure.

We received one bottle of liquor per room per cruise this past July. When did this change to one bottle per guest in cabin?

We also filled out the pre cruise questionnaire and it was a waste of time. Had to fill out form onboard with our choices. Out of the 15 day cruise I got printed newspaper probably 5 times.

That is what I tried and was told. Figured out pretty quickly that priority was not working on Seashore. Definitely worked on Seaside last time we were on her.

We had no meeting with anyone other then our butler as he went over the cabin features, safety briefing requirements, and things he could do for us.  If you offered me a free cruise on the fifth day if I could pick out the HEAD Butler or the Maitre De from a line up you would have kept your money.  At no time did I meet, speak, or know who the maitre de  was at any point until the fifth day when we had a brief conversation out on deck when he apologized for not introducing himself sooner.  I have no idea who the head Butler was on our trip but thanks to the lady who clarified the room steward as the assistant Butler

.  I appreciated his frank and honest apology.  I WILL make it a point to track the Maitre De down at the start of our Jan cruise.

I think you meant me LOL.

Each time we boarded, the maitre d' in the YC restaurant wanted an approximate time of our preferred dining so that they could make sure they wouldn't have every YC cabin show up at the same time. If you traveled during Covid, maybe that was not an issue? Also, the maitre d' was the one who did the fresh cooked pasta for each meal (well, lunches and dinners). Did they not do that at all on your cruises either? We did eat every meal in the YC restaurant except maybe 2 or 3 at the One Pool grill and the one complementary Diamond dinner in Butchers Cut so we saw the maitre d' at least once per day every day.

We never knew who was our head butler either sailing, btw. I guess we were fortunate that we did not need to that individual.

I do think that the maitre d' was especially present at breakfast each day so that might be your best time to catch him/her. We were typically the last ones seated for breakfast; keep that in mind as well as you try to make contact with them.

I hope your next cruise is more in line with all that you're reading on the boards. Our cruises have been so wonderful in YC that we don't think we'll ever sail in NCL Haven again. We even sold all our CruiseNext certificates on eBay (we had 6).

  • 5 months later...

Have you stayed in the MSC Yacht Club lately? Our last YC experience was Seaside in the summer of 2019. Now we're gearing up for Meraviglia this May. I am wondering what amenities or benefits have been LOST during the last four years. Or what has been added? Thank you for any insight!

What I have read, and I cannot confirm is true, is that:

  • Butlers will no longer put away and hang your clothing when you first board
  • Butlers no longer provide additional nuts and snacks in the minibar (other than what might first be there when you board)
  • Butlers no longer provide additional small liquor bottles, but instead provide you with one large bottle of your choice.... ?
  • Butlers can no longer take you to the front row at the evening show
  • Gelato is no longer a "free" benefit
  • You cannot get coffee drinks at Jean Philippe... ?

Was on this month as well as January.

You are correct mostly. They will unpack but you will wait a while. We boarded at 11am and our bag's came at 515.

They will escort you to the reserved area.

I think it comes down to whether you're the type of person who likes club level perks. We've done it twice, in Las Vegas and in Punta Cana. Personally I'd rather do a balcony room and skip the drinks. We don't want any wifi on a cruise either. But these are definitely a draw for some cruisers 😎

None of those past benefits were available when I was in the YC on Divina in 2021. Our butler brought tonic and lime slices so we could make G&Ts with the big bottle. We were told that it was one newspaper per cabin, and my mother requested the one I subscribe to, so I didn't get to read a different one for a change as I had hoped.

Interesting! Because of the timing of your cruise, I am wondering if some of your experience is specifically because of covid restrictions, that are hopefully long gone.

So prepare for the long haul.😁

It is time to stop bombarding the rest of human civilization.

NO, most of these are all still in place.

  • Butlers will no longer put away and hang your clothing when you first board - yes, they can do it but many people (ME INCLUDED) find it odd to ask someone else to put away our clothes
  • Butlers no longer provide additional nuts and snacks in the minibar (other than what might first be there when you board) - correct, one and one on the packaged snacks
  • Butlers no longer provide additional small liquor bottles, but instead provide you with one large bottle of your choice.... ? correct
  • Butlers can no longer take you to the front row at the evening show - the YC seating is generally in the rear and there is no first row reserved seating; they can certainly walk you down to the first row but there will likely already be people there sitting and the YC butler cannot remove them
  • Gelato is no longer a "free" benefit - correct
  • You cannot get coffee drinks at Jean Philippe... ? you can get them, you just have to pay for them

Currently on Splendida and one group of 3 does have reserved seats in the front row on right looking down.

One of them is in a wheelchair and the layout of this theater really makes that the most feasible option.

They are in YC and Butler brings them I saw early cruise.
