Totally get you on your way of thinking

We used to do it that way as in accumulate tickets and cash up at end of cruise on RC

but I thought carnival didn’t use tickets

And if a card is left in a machine, what is to stop anyone else using the credits in play.

Granted they won’t be able to draw any money or get a ticket

Do you log out at end of session (if not using a lanyard to physically pull card out

Carnival does not use vouchers.

Nobody can spend any winnings or add any $$ to a machine if a card is left behind because a 4-digit pin is needed.   Yes, it’s a PIA sometimes but it works well for security purposes.

Sorry yes of course it is great help thank you! It is just directed at the person who said I was lying!

I never said you were lying...my comment meant you need better presentation skills. If you intend to get your voucher back you need to be thorough and specific. Your story changed dramatically with regards to content in your bag. If I was investigating and you first told me you had an empty bag with a hairbrush then you later you proceeded to say it contained credit card, phone charger, hair brush and whatever else I would be less likely to drop what I was doing to help you out. It has been my experience the casino management tend to not believe anything the gamblers report and or complain about. I was on the Oasis of the Seas and my wife had Tory Birch flip flops...she walked away for a few seconds, came back and they were gone. She asked for security to see the footage, they reluctantly did and it showed a woman walk up, slip them on and quickly walk off...end result...they did nothing about it. Good luck...

From this picture

The casino will be able to tell anyone what ship, what date, what time, what machine and who cashed ticket out of machine.

Also when and where it next went, either machine or cage

And likewise even though the amount is small 😳

Please explain how the voucher will say who cashed it? The only way will be to track down what machine it was entered in and then view the cameras. Even then, if the person is tracked down with facial identification they could say it was given to them or they found it in the trash or some other odd story. The only chance is if they find footage of a person pulling the ticket out of the bag and then putting it in their pocket and same person subsequently putting it in the machine. Probably little chance of that. More than likely it was a professional thief who took the bag and then went in to the restroom, rooted through it,  kept the voucher and then left the bag for someone else to  find and then that person turned it in.

Ok

I will explain again

OP used sea pass card in machine

When they cashed ticket that ticket has Information on it pertinent to who won and where, what time and amount and card holders folio

The sea pass card is how casinos track players win loss action for W2G tax filing Purposes and also to accumulate points and rewards and status

Part of why they ask players to insert their cards to win freeplay and raffle tickets etc.

The ticket (stolen) removed from bag still contains all that pertinent information.

That ticket >$ 200 in value; didn’t just void, it was out in another machine or it was cashed at cage.

TITO )Ticket in Ticket Out technology follows a tickets cycle through the casino .

The money management system can track every location that ticket is used.

when a ticket is reused or cashed it’s history is updated in the system

There is a paper trial

No mater how many times it is used or reused

which is technically possible Only TWICE

(3rd time in count room)

So when the person who took (found) such ticket

History in system is generated

Timestamped

Which machine etc.

So with the aid of a very sophisticated camera system in casino

The staff will be able to pinpoint. Exact time and location THAT ticket was used

Finding the person who used that ticket

Hopefully that makes sense

What does it say on the back of the voucher?

"Void after 30 days" is wrong.  Uncashed vouchers are voided at the end of the cruise.

Was it folded in your purse? Someone could've been looking for cash, and tossed a white paper out. Someone picked it up, knowing nothing where it came from, and cashed it in as the bearer instrument that it is. If the person is identified on camera - something that should be done very quickly- their vacation has just gone to hell.  it could be a grandmother,  a honeymooner, or a college kid.

It wouldn't be worth it to me to be part of that. I'd just hope that whoever "found it" needed it more than me.

I understand how it works...I spend a lot of time in casino. The OP information is on the ticket if she used her sea pass card while playing in the machine. The person (if it is the thief) who puts that stolen ticket in the machine for cash out purposes is not going to use their sea pass card unless they are an idiot... the thief would simply put the ticket in a machine and then immediately press cash out to generate a new ticket to take to the cage or go play elsewhere. So you will be left with no incriminating evidence as you are describing.

The evidence will be when the ticket is inserted into machine

or cashed (Mug shot on camera)

Time stamped and coordinated with a time stamp on camera.

Really as someone quoted earlier, very simple investigative work.

The cameras are that good, you will even find out what was in the OP’s bag

as you doubted that as well 😉

The cameras can read a serial number ON ANY USD bill or partial if obstructed by fingers etc

Reading a ticket number just as easy.

I know from experience of working in casino count rooms all over the world using TITO technology and systems that count and sort tickets from cash

And training casino staff on how to use the technology

As the company I worked for developed the software and systems

The money management system is linked to the camera system, well

it was for the installations and setups I witnessed.

(if it isn’t you can still overlap time stamps)

So if anyone on the ship wants to help OP, it is really not that difficult

I hear ya...lots of ifs and PFM in order to identify the thief. Let me tell you a story... a few years ago I was on one of the smaller Royal ships Majesty...they have that quarter machine with the bills in it. Two early mornings in a row with the casino closed I caught this guy and his friend with a flat flexible metal bar sticking it up underneath the glass and raking the bills out of the machine. Low tech but obviously effective. Now if those super cameras you describe were doing their job these two clowns would have been escorted off the ship but evidently either Royal did not care, or those cameras are not focused everywhere in the casino.

1/4 machine , I see people waiting for the ship to rock n roll and catch the coins falling out 😃

Also going back on what you said about thief putting original ticket in a a machine, then cashing out a new ticket.

That is one feature of TITO

That newly printed ticket will have history with machine and history with the original ticket.

Money management system will drill down all transactions related to that machine in a timely order of events.

Think of it like a family tree or DNA traceable

So the thief goes to cash newly printed ticket at cage, it’s actually easier now to prove of the wrong doing.

MAJESTY, Were cameras invented when she was built.
i enjoyed your Slim Jim story 🤣

Why do some insist on coming up with something far fetched to explain what happened?  It's probably more likely that someone looked through the bag, grabbed the ticket and then either turned the bag in or left it for someone else to turn in.  As I said, my DH has cashed in tickets for me without being asked anything.  The simple answer is usually the correct one.

Taking something not belonging to you is just flat out wrong.

* On the Odyssey, my wife and I were having our pictures taken on deck 4, Royal Esplanade...when my wife saw a man "take" her crossover pouch containing her phone and seapass card. I ran over to confront the man...(a few eloquent words were exchanged between me and this man)...and got my wife's pouch back.

He's ******* excuse was: " I was taking it to guest services"....seriously?

Same with Princess and if you walk away it will go back to your card within a few minutes.

In my experience, dishonest people who concoct stories in order to unjustly benefit themselves, often have quite amazing presentation skills. On the other hand, thoroughly honest and decent people often react very badly and get very upset, when something  unpleasant like a theft happens to them. It doesn't need to be about great economic loss either. It's having to come to grips with the fact that some random stranger would do something like that, as for instance search through a handbag that was left in a restaurant. And when you are upset you often don't come across as very coherent - at least I myself do not.

To OP, I do wish this doesn't completely ruin the cruise for you!

I'm not a gambler. What is the purpose of having vouchers rather than just returning credits to the seapass card?

Vouchers which get lost or are not cashed out equates to more money for the casino. Now the positive side of it from a gambler point of view... I like the vouchers though because I often use them as tip money to the bar staff and they can easily be transferred from machine to machine unlike the sea pass method where you constantly have to log into your account and transfer the money. In addition, often the machine keypad does not work properly so you wind up not playing where you wanted to.

I assume you mean you cash them in for tip money as crew and staff are not allowed to play in the casino.

Off topic question…. If they are still using vouchers how do they keep track of your play? Do we have to keep our card in the machine while we are playing?

Yes
