sharkster77 Posted August 25, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2022 I posted this on the American Cruise Lines page and got no response, so maybe someone here can provide an answer: We are all aware of the low-water problems on the Rhine this summer. Given that the western US has been under drought conditions for the last few summers, are Columbia river cruises ever affected by low water, or is that not a problem there? Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted August 25, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2022 We don't really talk much about American river cruises on this board, because both American Cruise Line and American Queen have their own boards. Now that Viking are starting on the Mississippi that may change, but we lack a river Naiad like @notamermaid over here!
Rare texasstar Posted August 26, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2022 I can see the river from my house, and I can assure you there is no problem. The cruise ships are docking at the new pier in Kalama, WA. There is one there nearly every day.
sharkster77 Posted August 26, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted August 26, 2022 Fair enough, as I mentioned, rivers further south, like the Colorado for example are suffering greatly. I did try the ACL board but got no reply. I knew this board would come through! Thanks!
Canal archive Posted August 26, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2022 Has anyone read ‘Narrow Dog to Indian River’? By Terry Darlington a follow on to his ‘Narrow Dog to Carcassonne’ the dog is their whippet, but it’s a flavour of cruising in the USA.
