BklynBoy8 Posted September 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2022 I know it's off Topic but so close to all our hearts. Watching coverage on our TV and Cable CNN and BBC America of the Immediate concern of Queen Elizabeth 2 Health suddenly on TV. All her children are heading to Balmoral to be by her side. Announced by her Physicians. My DW and I send our Thoughts and Prayers for Queen Elizabeth 2 and to The Royal Family. How much we always thought of her on The QE2.....

Lakesregion Posted September 8, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2022 Let us not write her off just yet. I believe she has a good ten years of rule to go before retiring

alc13 Posted September 8, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2022 I worry, too. She looked so frail greeting the new PM. She is widely, deeply loved.

Pear Carr Posted September 8, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 8, 2022 Expected given her age and declining health - but deeply shocked and emotional given Queen Elizabeth is all most of us have known all of our lives and well deserving of our love and respect.
ivanidea Posted September 8, 2022 #13 Share Posted September 8, 2022 Truly a sad day, and the end of an era. She was a much respected and well like ambassador to the UK and Commonwealth. The Queen is dead, long live the King.
Ray66 Posted September 8, 2022 #14 Share Posted September 8, 2022 Just received this email from Cunard Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (1926 ‑ 2022) Cunard, on behalf of its employees worldwide, is deeply saddened at the news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. Her Majesty’s association with Cunard dates back to 1938 when she accompanied her mother to the launch of Queen Elizabeth. Since then The Queen launched Caronia in 1947 and QE2 in 1967, and named Queen Mary 2 in 2004 and Queen Elizabeth in 2010. Her Majesty also attended many events on board our ships over the years, including our 150th Anniversary celebrations in 1990. For all of this and much more, Cunard will be forever grateful to The Queen. Cunard joins the UK and nations around the world in expressing our deep sympathy at the death of Her Majesty, and we extend sincere condolences to The Royal Family. God save the King. 5
schattenfell71 Posted September 8, 2022 #15 Share Posted September 8, 2022 Sad news. We are shocked and very sad here in Germany. She did so much for the friendship between the UK and Germany and we will be forever grateful for that.
Caullkhead Posted September 8, 2022 #16 Share Posted September 8, 2022 So terribly sad although not unexpected doesn’t make the news any easier. Thought the email from Cunard was lovely.

alc13 Posted September 8, 2022 #19 Share Posted September 8, 2022 She personified dignity and respect for duty. And she loved her family and was well-loved in return. Lots to admire there. I'm very sad today.
Petulia Posted September 8, 2022 #20 Share Posted September 8, 2022 The front page of many of todays UK papers featured a lovely happy picture of William and Kate hand in hand with their three children ready to start their first day at their new school. Tomorrow's headlines will be so poignantly different. We saw photos of the Queen on Tuesday and so todays news has come as a shock. So very sad and upsetting. showingdiva Posted September 8, 2022 #21 Share Posted September 8, 2022 (edited) We all thought "she's 96 in failing health .. we are prepared for this happening at some point". Turns out .. we weren't prepared at all. A fellow equestrienne, avid fan of horse racing and a knowledgeable breeder of thoroughbreds and Britain's rare breed native ponies. Rest in peace Ma'am. Re-united with your beloved Philip. Long live The King. Edited September 8, 2022 by showingdiva

Homelines Posted September 8, 2022 #23 Share Posted September 8, 2022 I was wondering if anyone was on the ships and could tell us how it was handled. It is also ironic that the keel of the new Queen Anne was laid today.
Lakesregion Posted September 8, 2022 #24 Share Posted September 8, 2022 It used to be a tradition to paint the funnels black on ships of a royal line when the monarch passed. I wonder if Cunard will do this for the Queen Elizabeth and keep them black for a full year. Also will all of the crew on the Queen Elizabeth wear a small black ribbon of their uniforms?
ddgarner1 Posted September 9, 2022 #25 Share Posted September 9, 2022 An amazing woman, born to duty, who lived her best life for her country and the Commonwealth. As a profoundly respectful Anglophile, I'm deeply saddened today. In my adult life I have never known any other words to the UK National Anthem than "God Save the Queen." I don't know that I will easily adjust my natural inclination of instant respect for Her Majesty the song inspires. Nonetheless: God Save the King!
