Beaver1975 Posted September 21, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2022 Which side of the ship faces the island when docking at Ocean Cay?
SirWolf Posted September 21, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2022 Starboard (right) side faces Ocean Cay.
Two Wheels Only Posted September 21, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2022 Usually (99%?) starboard side but technically, the ship can dock in either direction. When I book, I presume that starboard side will face the island.

It was quite interesting to watch but I assumed by the set up that that would be the only way it would dock.
Rare styles27 Posted September 21, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2022 Divina was Starboard when we were there in 11/2021 We had an aft facing balcony and could see a little bit of the island from the balcony (11270)

I've seen a few photos with the ship pointing the "wrong way" but most of the time, the bridge is pointing to the lighthouse.
poohdreaming Posted September 21, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2022 Recently cruised on MSC Divina. It was on the starboard side on the week of Sept. 4th.
rkacruiser Posted September 21, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 21, 2022 I believe the starboard side of the ship is the preferred side for facing the island. Makes it easier for the Master to sail from that position. 6 hours ago, 1kaper said: a tug. When I visited the island, I did not see a tug. Things change! There was a lot of noise where we were with the idling but it wasn’t bad elsewhere on the boat. Drank my coffee hike we watched them throw the line, miss, have to fish it out, then hook it on to the tug.
