I assume you purchased the shore excursions separately from your original booking and did not pay for any part of your cruise fare at the same time you purchased the excursions?  If the shore excursions were truly stand alone, that is pretty sweet.

Yes, it was separate from my original booking.

Just got my email that I used my offer so if you have an existing booking and want to use the offer, throwing $1000 at your remaining balance works. I also did go through my TA so the fact that the spend wasn't on the website doesn't seem to matter either. I will say, though, that the offer mentions that third-party payment processors may be a problem so if you booked anywhere that doesn't directly pay the cruise line on your behalf, YMMV. My TA is independent and just calls HAL and gives them my CC#, but the fine print implies that may not always be how that works.

Do you know if the $1000 must be a single charge?  I don’t (yet) have Amex, and my upcoming booking will be under that amount.  At the end of the cruise, adding gratuities etc., total of all HAL charges will be over 1000.

I think you can do it in several charges, at least you can on other cruise lines

My offer begins with  "Get a one-time $300 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $1,000 in one or more purchases of cruise reservations . . . ."  So clearly you can use more than one charge.

I have a casino booking that is only going to charge me about $300.  Thinking of buying $600 in pre-paid onboard credit plus pre-pay gratuities to get to the $1,000 level.

I'll let you all know if it works.  I did something similar with an Amex Offer on NCL earlier this year and it worked fine.

I just don't know if I'll be able to cash out the pre-paid onboard credit if I don't use it.  Anyone know about this?  Maybe I could use the pre-paid onboard credit at the casino?

I am wondering if your strategy works?  I have Amex offer spend $750 and get $300 back. My casino offer is only $650. I want to buy OBC or do the prepaid gratuity at the time of booking. But Holland America customer service told me that I have to buy OBC later after I made the booking. Just want to make sure it will trigger the credit. Thanks

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this thread, we paid $1000, towards our deposit for an existing reservation for a December 29, 2024 sailing. We made the reservation in November 2023. We received $250 back from American Express on our most recent statement. If not for CC, we would have missed this one.  It worked for our cards.
