Why does Carnival insist on referring to the port as “Los Angeles?” Long Beach and LA are two different cities, and this only causes confusion for the passengers.

Probably the same reason why they say Port Canaveral (Orlando) on their booking engine. Those are the nearest major cities/airports.

Long Beach is in LA County but it doesn't have the name recognition that LA has so that may be why Carnival lists it as LA.

Everyone knows where Los Angles is but maybe not Long Beach, so they put both.

Port of Los Angeles - San Pedro is part of LA City.  Speaking of, the local (mis)pronunciation is: "San Peedro."  LOL!
