liquor disappeared from food and beverages orders for upcoming cruise

Obviously Carnival could do more to stop the smuggling of liquor and also illicit drugs. And they can also search cabins looking for the same, if they want to. Some are going to push the limits and then everyone will pay the price. If you see something, say something.

I think they just want you to purchase cheers. We paid $250.09 for 2 bottles of liquor in our room vs $1131.86 for the two of us on our 8 day upcoming next October if we purchase cheers.

or cruise on casino offers for free.

Let's all be honest, this has nothing to do with safety or anything remotely close to that. It has everything to do with making more money, recouping money lost during the pandemic, etc. Carnival makes significantly more money by having us go to the bar and buy and drink than us purchasing a bottle and making it ourselves...that's just a fact. Personally, I'd just appreciate honesty from them instead of feeding us the BS...I can at least respect the honesty even if I don't agree with the decision made.

Exactly! The few knuckleheads are just a convenient excuse. I doubt anything changes considering these type of folks don't give a crap about rules/decorum anyway and will simply improvise, adapt and overcome (smuggle, drink more in ports, smuggle in ports, switch to pot etc). The only change is that Carnival will have one less revenue stream. Luckily, my next two cruises were booked during big sales offers so I can factor in cheers and it still isn't too terrible of a overall price. Future bookings will need to be discounted accordingly in order to factor in cheers now since there is really no other good option with drink prices as they are. I'll factor in $1200 for us as a couple ($600 per adult) for drinks into the equation when comparing to the competition, that includes other lines and also AI's, resorts, hotels, Air BnB's/VBRO ect. This is an opportunistic money grab disguised as "doing something" about a handful of knuckleheads. It'll be interesting to see earnings after this plays out for a bit. I suspect it won't work out as intended.

My guess is they ran analytics on cabin numbers with violence-related complaints, referenced that data with in-cabin liquor purchase data and found a high correlation.

I suppose I wish that was the case, but I think other posters are correct: they see that bad behavior as an excuse to make a change that will have a net result of increasing revenues.

If we, the outside consumers, could ever look at the stats, I would be very interested to see whether the frequency of boorish behavior truly decreases after instituting this change (or the threat of a $500 fine).  My bet is "no".

But I also bet we'll never see those stats, just endless anecdotes from all interested parties.

Carnival isn't going to be fooled by empty threats. How's that pre-purchased booze working out on RCL or NCL?

I'll be honest here: I have no idea what you mean.

Do those lines offer pre-purchased booze?  If so, how is it working out for them and their customers?

i.e., what is your point?  I truly can't figure it out.

Does anyone know of other cruise lines that offer in-room liquor? Or cruise lines that allow only one person to buy the beverage package?

Celebrity has an option that includes the equivalent of cheers and bottles in the cabin. I actually seen it because I priced out a comparative suite rate and benefits. It's a pretty suite deal. 😄

Who else allows cruisers to pre-order bottles?

Celebrity bundles drink packages and more in with most cruise fares. Bonus is the casino are non-smoking.

My apologies. You will have seen that we no longer have full bottle liquor sales available on pre order. Hard liquor is no longer available for pre-order on our Fun Shops. All existing sales will be honored and guests can still pre-order up to two bottles of wine for onboard delivery and consumption.
You can still of course purchase from the shops on board and ashore and these of course are not for use on board. I know this maybe frustrating for a few of you but I am sure everyone will understand why we need to do this. Cheers

It might help to "understand" why if they actually gave a reason.

I do find it hard to believe it is to push people to buy Cheers.  There is a significant cost difference between purchasing even a couple of bottles for the room vs Cheers.  I would expect most of the people who buy bottles for their rooms aren't the type that would drink enough over the cruise to make Cheers worth it.

Until you start buying individual drinks and see the bill quickly accumulate. Either that or you limit your vacation fun because of costs. Neither is a good option for those folks either.

Eh.  We drink enough to at least break even and I still have a hard time swallowing the price of Cheers.  I still haven't pulled the trigger on my cruise next month.  For the type of person who likes a few drinks but doesn't drink as much as we might I can't see them going for it.

Where? How?

Under the Drink Experiences portion of the Cruise planner you find the "Classic Stateroom Bar Setup" offering for $94.99 and the "Premium Stateroom Bar Setup" for $122.99.  This is at a 5% savings than the cost of ordering onboard. Classic package has liquors like Absolut while Premium has liquors like Grey Goose. I ordered a bottle of Goose and Soda for my Apex sailing next month.

On our cruise on panorama last march, they delivered a notice to our room on day one that said sorry the Seagram's whiskey you ordered is out of stock and we will be refunded. We called gs desk and had refund applied to our onboard account as order was placed 2 years prior with a credit card account we no longer have.

Worried now this will be what's to come for all pre purchased liquor. You show up onboard to this notice waiting for you. I also like to mix my own  for out on the balcony and not have to go wait in lines at the bar while trying to relax.

I already ordered a bottle of Seagrams for our February cruise. I hope they aren’t “out of stock” then. I’ll be checking their store if they say they are. 😂

If you are very concerned with honesty, why don't you get mad or show your anger towards the thousands of fellow guests who are not honest, by smuggling alcohol onboard, giving alcohol to minors. That's the real problem.

Amazing. I was wrong. Thank you.

There seems to be no practical limit on the number of bottles, either. Guess I'll order before Celebrity follows Carnival.
