Jamericannn Posted October 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2022 I haven’t cruised since December 2019. Last cruise was on the Magic out of Fort Lauderdale. I was looking for summer 2023 cruise from NY and the Magic is the ship that will be leaving from there. I have it booked for July. I enjoyed this ship in 2019 even though the cruise director was a little boring. Excited to go back on it mainly because my then 1 and a half years old will be 5 and my then 4 years old will be 8 (third cruise). They will have a great time and will be able to remember more things. Haven’t been keeping up with post on here because life got in the way and I had no cruise booked. Is there anything new I need to know about carnival cruises post covid? Anything changed specifically on the Magic?
ProgRockCruiser Posted October 26, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2022 Nothing too different, from what I can tell. We were on Magic in Sept 2021, and as far as I know, there didn't seem to be anything new added during the pandemic (which is a big chuck of that whole timeline since your cruise in Dec 2019). We are on her again later this year, and I don't see any other changes specific to the ship - and of course all the things that are "returning to normal" after the shutdown or changing because of fleet-wide changes. But if anyone has anything specific to mention that was done to her recently, I too am interested...

serene56 Posted October 27, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2022 Last Magic Dry dock was 2016 Nothing different from your last cruise the shows will be exactly the same as is the MDR menu Got some cleaning done in May of 2022 Carnival Magic’s refit and refurbishment was fairly light, with some cosmetic changes made to the ship’s public rooms, such as new carpets and soft furnishing, while the casino was also expanded to include more slot machines. auburn77 Posted October 27, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2022 Haven't sailed on it since its inaugural cruise in 2011. Leaving on it next Saturday. Loved it in 2011.
pohlerbear Posted October 27, 2022 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2022 There's a smoke free casino on the 4th floor. Not sure when that went in though... and I've cruised Magic twice this year and didn't make it there either time LOL

Rare Saint Greg Posted October 28, 2022 #12 Share Posted October 28, 2022 (edited) Welcome back. I believe I was on your last cruise. No more mixology contest, hairy chest contest, lip synch battle, Clue, or Quest. Sea Day brunch ends at noon. MDR breakfast, brunch and YTD check-in for dining on the hub app. It will let you know when your table is ready. When I was on Magic last month they didn't have the red frog pub fish bowl special on embarkation day. I think they had it on one of the bermuda days. CruiseAdict218 Posted October 28, 2022 #13 Share Posted October 28, 2022 Sailed on her in July, middle of the road ship for us, didn’t overly love it but didn’t overly hate it either. Other comments summed it up pretty good, new non-smoking casino. Food was so so. Family has another cruise booked for next year but we are all waiting patiently for the Venezia cruises to be released. However, Ryan Rose should be the cruise director again when the ship comes back to NY and he was fantastic, so you should enjoy him unless he was the one you found boring.
