lakegirl16 Posted October 29, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2022 Are these allowed? There's so few plugs, I feel like we brought them in the past but also I think I read they take them away? Thanks!
WestLakeGirl Posted October 29, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2022 They are not allowed and generally will be confiscated if they find one in your luggage. They are considered a fire hazard and unsafe to use on cruise ships
stl82 Posted October 29, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2022 There are several threads on this board about which power strips are OK, and which are not. Do a search on "power strip" and you will get a lot of information.
Moonarino Posted October 29, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2022 (edited) Check this particular page of a lengthy topic on power strips etc. One big key is NO surge-protected strips or plugs or anything, because those can be fire hazards on a cruise ship. One problem is that all port security people don't necessarily know what is okay for cruise ships or not, so a legitimate power basic strip might be confiscated. That's the risk we all take trying to take power-outlet-helpers onboard. Click the title or image to go to the page. Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted October 29, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2022 All ships have a limited amount of power strips yet they're all on a first come first serve basis although suite guests can request them pre-sailing through their pre-sail concierge. If you need one it's recommended to head to your room ASAP (perhaps get the muster check in out of the way) and ask the steward.

In case some readers don't catch that.

The best and easiest solution was an EU double USB plug. Left the North American plugs open. Never found having only 2 or 3 outlets was problem once our USB powered items were taken care of (waterpik, toothbrush and two phones). The USB items can swap out for charging. "Cruise Approved" is a term made up by Amazon sellers, not cruise lines. You can't take a surge protector. I've used items like this for years with no issue. Much smaller and easier to travel with. https://www.anker.com/products/a2148?variant=41974285172886&ref=collectionBuy
