Finished Anthem of the Seas Cruise, ask me whatever questions you have

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the offer for answers.  We will be on this same itinerary out of Bayonne on 2/2/23.  We haven't cruised for quite some time, and I'm back here for updates.  Please advise which were the designated formal nights, and what was your take on the formal nights?

Also, where is Silk located?

Thanks, Teddie

It's not formal dining nights, but rather "dress your best" nights. It's up to you to decide. Right now it varies between shorts and t shirts to some still wearing tuxes. I just wear dress pants and a collared shirt. It's nights 2 & 6 on a 7 night cruise with lobster being served on night 6.

Thanks very much--this helps. 🙂

Thanks for all the info, I will be on the Anthem Dec 4 for a seven night cruise.  I have always enjoyed going to the schooner bar and listening to the piano player.  How was the rest of the nightly entertainment ?  Two70 looks very interesting to me.

Did you try North Star ?

What was the late night 'club', Music Hall ?

Is the full Spectra's Cabaret being performed, with the aerialists?

Someone asked about this at the C&A Entertainment Staff Q&A a couple of days ago.  They are still waiting for certified riggers.  Apparently, there is a long waitlist from the training facility they use.  They didn't have an ETA.

We leave on this one (minus Miami) in two weeks.   We are not doing any specialty dining this trip either.  How was the food in the Main Dining Room?  Also, what did you do at the Port Canaveral stop?  Thanks.

Food and service in main dining room was the worst in my 15 cruises with RCI. After three nights we went to the buffet which was surprisingly pretty good.

We stayed on the ship at PC, time frame doesn't give you much time to do anything.

Formal night has gone the way of the VCR and dial phone.  A few will dress up formally (suits), but it is mostly shirts and slacks.  There are as many baseball shirts and caps in the MDR as there are suits and ties.

Silk is one of the MDRs on deck 4 aft.  It is across from American Icon.

Agree on the MDR service.  It has really gone down.  At least getting your soup, salad, and appy served at the same time at dinner speeds up the meal.  MDR service at breakfast and lunch was horrendous.

I thought that the MDR food had improved over our most recent Royal cruise.  WJ is always hit and miss, but there is always something good.

PC from noon to 8 is pretty much a waste of a port stop, particularly if not docked at terminal 1.

I did North Star for free during the port Canaveral stop. It was really good. Definitely worth doing for free if you can during a port stop, not sure I would pay for it during sea days.

Don't know anything about the late night activities as we were back in the room by 10-1030 each night (picking up the kids from adventure ocean by 10PM each night)

Overall the nightly entertainment was decent. They only had one comedian which was late night towards the end of the cruise so did not see him, wish they had more comedians.

Just to add a few things about this cruise.

I only booked it for a nice get away, we could drive to the port. The ports we really didn't care about. Like it was said before, PC is very limited time wise if you wanted to do anything.

Miami was a disaster for many people. Won't get into detail but there is a thread on this. Got a $125 OBC due to delays.

Only got off at Nassau to check the new construction. Port area was swamped with people.

Still love Coco Cay.

Had a great room attendant - Shurma - who remember us from 4 years ago.

WJ had three omelet stations.

Don't understand why they charge for North Star on sea days.

Voom was hit and miss, couldn't get it in the room. Had to have internet guy come to the room to straighten it out.

Wait service was great in the WJ.

We had great weather and loved the ship.

Did self assist and was off the ship and on the road by 7:30.

And he did what?

Beats me, he said something about point of access and fiddled with my I-pad. Restarted it and it worked. Prior to that, it worked everywhere else, just not in the room or balcony.

I just did Anthem of the Seas 8 day cruise from 10/29 - 11/6 out of Bayonne which had stops in Port Canaveral, Coco Cay, Nassau and Miami. Feel free to ask me whatever questions you have about the ship. Some notes.

1) I had ocean view room so if you want to know about balcony level or above I am not the person to answer.

2) I did not purchase VOOM internet plan so no answers for that.

3) I did not purchase Unlimited Dining Plan and I did not eat in any specialty restaurants so no answers for you on those.

4) I did purchase the Deluxe Beverage Package so I can answer plenty on that!!!!

I will simply say other than the long hiccup that occurred with the immigration process in Miami this was a great cruise.

Thank you very much for all the information.

We have booked an ocean view room too on deck 3 and I would like to know about noises, if there are view obstructions, if you feel ship movements, etc.

Thanks in advance por the answers.

I was in an ocean view room on Deck 3 and while there was some noise late night it did not bother me or my wife and kids. Of course that is just my experience and maybe that could bother others. I liked where we were because of the fact we were close to a lot of the action from our room. MDR was close by, could easily in the mornings take a quick walk to get Starbucks from La Patessiere or a late night bite at Sorrentos. I do not gamble but if you do the casino is right there. For me I liked it because I would grab a few cans of water from there quickly before bed to take back to the room.

Was the boat big? 😉

Just kidding, what time did you arrive in Port Canaveral? I did an Oasis sailing out of New Jersey in Sept and we arrived about 12, couldn't leave the ship for our Space Center tour until 1pm so we only had like two hours there before we had to return.

We were schedule to arrive at noon, but got in around 11:30.  The captain said that he had to arrive a little early because of port restrictions for a launch at the space center.  The launch did not happen.  Apparently, it was moved to the next day.  Very disappointing for us because our balcony was directly facing the space center and launch pad.
