RocketMan275 Posted November 9, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2022 Anyone who has stayed at either. Request your opinion. Just one night before cruise. Do not need parking.
GJustice Posted November 9, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2022 Stayed at both. They're great for their age. Anything in particular you're looking for?

Anything in particular you're looking for? Clean, comfortable. Good breakfast is a plus. Restaurant on site or close by. Not particularly price sensitive. Not driving so parking isn't an issue. Oh, how does one get to the port? Will be on NCL if that matters. Edited November 10, 2022 by RocketMan275

Does the hotel have a shuttle? Is it an easy walk? We're late seventies with one small roller bag each.

Rare cruiselvr04 Posted November 11, 2022 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2022 You can walk from either to the pier. For Royals new pier you’d need transportation. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. We like the happy hour at Willy G’s. Tremont is an old hotel with hardwood floors and old fashioned bathrooms but is so cool. Tiny elevator, beautiful staircase. We last had a jr suite with a very unique powder room plus full bath. One evening we enjoyed live music in their lobby for a couple of hours. This was a year ago so not sure what’s changed. Rooftop bar that’s seasonal. Harbor house is nice too but doesn’t have the same ambiance. Large, clean, modern rooms. You can’t go wrong with either one unless new reviews of Tremont say it’s changed since new management. Harbor house is basically built at the water and is right across from Willy G’s. There are boat tours from the dock there.
ssb Posted November 11, 2022 #9 Share Posted November 11, 2022 (edited) Both walk-able and two to three blocks to terminals 2 and 1 Tremont is upscale full service hotel. Tremont Rooftop bar no longer seasonal. Everything is changed for the better. Harbor House is room stay only. Good hotel . Nothing else for now . Now own and operated by Landry's And many changes coming including expansion of hotel and facilities . Yes the only advantage is being right on port waters for seeing ships go and coming . Both are in town walk-able to same attractions and all terminals . New terminal # 3 is much further but walk-able for most Edited November 11, 2022 by ssb

Sand and Seas Posted November 16, 2022 #11 Share Posted November 16, 2022 We stayed at the Tremont for two days before our recent NCL cruise. Pricey but we loved it! Our room had 12 foot ceilings. Bathroom was nicely updated. The rooftop bar was closed for renovations so check with them if that is important to you. Many great restaurants & bars with live music within walking distance. We loved walking around the downtown Strand district and will definitely want to return. It was an easy walk with our rolling bags to the terminal, but it did look like the Tremont had some kind of shuttle available if you needed it. We weren't planning on more than a one night stay. According to their website, their shuttle is available only to those who book their stay and cruise package. We haven't decided on flying or driving. Flying cuts a couple of days off our trip but adds $$$. Also according to their website their rooftop bar is scheduled to reopen "late winter" whatever that means.
Stallion Posted November 22, 2022 #13 Share Posted November 22, 2022 I've stayed in all the top hotels in Galveston (Tremont, Galvez, Harbor House, Hilton, San Luis, and another good option in Galveston is Moody Gardens which usually is much less expensive. Hotel-really good option for family with kids in warmer months because of the large heated pool and bar area which seems rare in Galveston. We've decided on Harbor House because of it's proximity to the port.
