I'll rephrase that to this:  If they charge your on board account $2000, aren't you paying $1000 for the OBC?

This has been explained to you so many times that I can only assume that you are deliberately not understanding, or just winding people up.

I will give it one more go then I’m done.

They charge your account $2,000 for the vouchers. You then get $1,000 discount (or $500 if they are Haven vouchers) by way of OBC. The money you paid wasn’t for the OBC, it was for the vouchers. The OBC is the discount,

Thanks.  I thought it was just me not understanding his/her question.  For me, it's just easier to totally forget about the OBC.  Just think of the price as $1000 for 8 cruisenext or $1500 for 8 Haven Cruisenext.  The OBC simply serves to confuse folks, and it definitely works.  Whoever came up with it has a well deserved marketing degree

You aren't making any sense. You "pay" $1000 for 4 certificates - they will either give you back $500 in obc ( which offsets the cost) or another 4 certificates.  In either case, your account is charged $1000. There is no obc to redeem, it's an offset to the money charged to your account.  And nr obc can't be claimed in the casino. If you took the certificates, you definitely wouldn't have had any obc. Sounds like you bought that go pro with your money, not NCLs.  Unless I'm missing something.

or if that go pro was bought with OBC, then there was actually a $2000 charge to your onboard account, and a $1000 OBC credit, making you think you had to spend that OBC for which you went and got the go pro (and actually paid $2000 for the certs which offered no financial gain).  You would not have received 8 certs for $1000 AND received OBC

So, if I buy four $500 Haven vouchers, my account will be charged $2000.  I will receive FCC of $2000.  I will also receive $1000 in non-refundable OBC that can be  used to offset on-board spending to include the cost of the vouchers.  Is that correct?

I suggest you don't buy any, your problem is solved.

As they are Haven CruiseNext I don’t think the discount is $1,000. I think it is $500, but don’t rely on me for that as I have never bought Haven ones.

I think the discount is $125 per voucher (as long as you buy 2+), which is why I think it would be $500 discount.

$125 was correct as of our sailing in September for Haven CruiseNext certificates.

Thank you.  Now I understand.

I read all 5 pages and I'm still lost. This is what I understand to be true but who the heck knows anymore:

Only refundable Onboard Credits and the Non-Refundable Onboard Credit given for purchasing CruiseNext deposits may be used towards your CruiseNext purchase.

Meaning- if I buy NOTHING at all onboard and ONLY have the deposits on my bill it would look like this:

$750 stateroom deposits

375 OBC

My CC is then charged 375 at the end of the cruise

Not quite.  It's BOGO, not 50% back.  You'd buy in multiples of two, but if you want only 3 you would pay $500 and get $750 in CND's.

Instead of buying Cruise Next, just take the money you would spend on them and apply it to your next cruise.

When I paid $500 out of pocket for $1000 worth of cruise next certificates that I fully intend to use, then it's like I'm saving $125 each time I spend a $250 CN. Looked at another way, once I've used two of my four CN, I've broken even; the last two are "free money."

That's not what it says though. It  says I can buy 3 @250 =750 dollars and get 375 OBC. What am I missing.

You had it absolutely correct.  Your cc will be charged $375 and you'll have 3 $250 certs

You got it correct.

Now commit what you wrote to memory and IGNORE anything and everything the sleazy Cruise Next folks say.  Just tell them how many certificates you want and stick to it. Anything they say is said for one purpose only - to get you to spend more money. (Or better yet, fill out the form yourself and hand it to them and walk away)

As for buying 3 certificates, be sure you understand how they are used.  You can use 1 per cabin, unless there is a double up promotion which is typically balcony or above, 6 months in advance where you can use 2 per cabin.  On rare occasions, there might be triple promotions.   My wife and I only buy 1 cabin at a time, so, we buy certificates in pairs.

Maybe you buy multiple cabins (e.g. for family) so the three certs makes sense.  Could be many reasons.  Just be sure you understand how they are used.
