Gday Guys,

NZ cruise on 23 December

How do we show proof of negative RAT Test?

They also mention a NZ electronic Visa?

Pretty sure Aussies dont need a visa, ive been to NZ at least a dozen times..

Getting excited now!

Cheers

Craig

Correct. If you have an Australian passport, you don't need a visa for NZ.

Who are you cruising with?

The above is generally correct, but there are slight differences between cruise lines. In most cases, they ask for photo as detailed above, but rarely ask for proof. With govt protocols, your word is your proof, and you just need to attest you have tested negative on a RAT in the previous 24hrs. Take the photo, or whatever your cruise line asks you to do.

Take a smart phone photo withim 24 hours of travel , not a selfie but of a RAT . Australia is exempt of needing a visa but need a NZeta .

The requirements for who does Not need a NZeta can be found here - https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/about-visa/nzeta#https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/tools-and-information/your-journey-to-new-zealand/before-you-travel-to-new-zealand/travellers-who-do-not-need-nzeta/slider

The second dot point is if you are an Australian citizen traveling on an Australian passport

Huh, we don't need an eta either.

Australian citizens do not need a NZeta.

Australian residents (that are not citizens) do need one. An example, like plenty of people I know, live in Australia on UK passports.

Australian citizens travelling on an Australian passport DO NOT need a NZeTA. It is in the link you have provided -

Who does not need an NZeTA

You do not need an NZeTA if you are:

  • an Australian citizen travelling on an Australian passport

On ovation of the seas at the moment doing NZ. Yes we had to show photo of our rat but she hardly glanced at it, could have been anyones or from any time. It does however make a huge extra queue to go through before you check in.

we have been shore twice. Absolutely no visa needed despite several letters from RCCL saing ALL passengers need it.
at Auckland a RCCL member looked at our passport. At Bay of Islands today, no one checked passports.

so no immigration.

If you are going to Auckland, I hope they have the bus situation sorted.

many were queuing for 3 to 4 hours to get off.

Ovation docked at the container depot and were supposed to bus us into town.

Badly organised and many just gave up.
