B2B questions

We leave soon for our first b2b. (Celebration).   I've already checked in for the first leg of the ship and will be checking in online tonight for the 2nd leg.  When I check in, does it matter what time we pick for arrival?   We have to switch rooms between the first week and 2nd week.  Do we print out our new luggage tags and put them on our luggage in the room at the end of the first leg of the trip?    Any suggestions on how to get the money off of our accounts on the first cruise and put them on the 2nd?    Anything else?   I'm sure we'll figure it all out.  I've heard Carnival make it really easy, but I'm just thinking through potential problems.   Thanks for any suggestions.

While you do need to go through the entire check in process for cruise #2, the boarding time you pick really doesn't matter as you won't board in the technical sense.  You'll be quickly and privately escorted off the ship just for the purpose of Customs and then immediately back on.  Very easy and painless.  You actually never mix with the new guests down on the dock.

I do think it's a good idea to print out your second leg luggage tags.  Your steward will move them to your new cabin but why not make it easy on him, right?  We attach the new ones and leave our suitcases on the sofa or bed as instructed.

Money off your accounts?  Not 100% sure what you mean.  You'll be given new S&S cards by the crew with a new folio for the second leg.  They can of course be hooked up to the same CC#.  If your asking whether you can carry over OBC, I think the answer is no but not 100% sure.  Carnival will treat the 2 cruises completely separately.

Here's a hint.  The computer system MUST know that you are B2B. One simply can't book 2 separate cruises online and have that happen automatically.  If you have a PVP that will likely already be taken care of.  Otherwise it takes a phone call from you.

I'm assuming when you talk about getting the money off your accounts for the first cruise and moving it to the second, that you are securing your S&S accounts with cash, OBC, or gift cards.

Cash - Go to GS or use a kiosk on the last day to cash out.  On the first day of the second cruise, go to GS or the kiosk (once you have your new S&S card) and apply the cash.

OBC - Same scenario for refundable OBC.  For non-refundable OBC, you will need to use the casino trick to cash out and then apply the cash for the second cruise.

Gift cards - See non-refundable OBC method above.

The easiest thing to do is check in with Guest Services within a day or so of boarding your first leg. They will make sure your back to back cruises are linked. Then you won't have to worry that anything is overlooked. We heard from Guest Services the day before the final day with instructions, etc. The entire process was super easy and required no effort on our part. The best part of doing a back to back is not getting emotional when the dining room staff sings the good bye song at the final dinner!!!!! Enjoy!!!!

Night or two before the end of the first leg you will get a letter explaining the B2B procedures. I would have my luggage tags on my luggage to help the stewards along. Also would go and advise guest services your on a B2B when you  you board the first leg. Basically you will  all meet and be led down to customs and back on the ship. No need to get a check in time, you'll be the only people on the ship, be back on around 10am.

Does your online account look different after having your B2B (back-to-back) cruises linked together?

No. The cruises are totally separate and NOTHING account-wise or payment-wise is combined.

I TOTALLY agree.  I hate hearing the 'sad song' when it's intended for me!

Talk to your PVP and they should link the cruises for you.  I also go down to guest services and notify them that the cruises should be linked.  You never know of a computer glitch.  I also inform the cabin steward that I'm doing a B2B just so they don't haul away my luggage.  If you have OBC left, go down to the casino and load it onto a slot machine, spin once then cash out.  Go to the casino cashier and tell them you want to cash out.  If you play in the casino, make sure to cash out the last night or you will loose all the money on your account.  We did a B2B on the Dream and when they walked us back on the ship they took a picture of all of us and served us mimosas.  If you like your table assignment on the first leg, take to the matried and ask for the same table assignment for the next cruise.  If you  have assigned dining.

Enjoy your B2B!!

Since the restart they no longer take a group photo. Instead you are allowed to take a photo of yourself at a specific location with a background indicating you were on a B2B. You also have a 1 drink credit on you sign and sail card per person.

I was mimosas and glasses of champagne on my most recent B2B2B, which was after the restart.  The atrium bartender had them lined up for us both times after we got back from customs/immigration.

I guess some ships do it differently. The MardiGras and Pride didn't do it that way.

I've done B2B before, but this is the first time I will have to change cabins - same deck but on the opposite side of the ship.  Quick question - could the cabin steward use one of those rolling carts with the bar on top for hanging items?  I don't mind repacking the bathroom and the clothes in drawers but packing and rehanging will be a pain.  I would bring my own hangers so that wouldn't cause a problem.  Also, my luggage is take-on size, so I don't use luggage tags.

The link above states that Guest Services will send a Luggage Service Team to move your luggage - is that really your cabin steward?  Just seems it would be alot easier to work things out with my cabin steward and would give him an extra tip.

We did a B2B2B on the Pride Oct 11th, 21st and 30th, different rooms each time.  At the end of the first leg, I asked our cabin steward about leaving the hanging items in the closet.  He told me that they don't do that anymore because they don't have that type of luggage cart anymore, so I would have to pack everything.  When we talked to our cabin steward before the second move, he said we could leave everything hanging, but we packed everything to save him the extra work.  I don't know if it's Carnival's new policy not to relocate hanging items and the second steward was offering to go above and beyond, or if the first guy just didn't want the extra work.

we did B2B on MG this year, we left our hanging clothes on hangers,

and just draped them over our suitcases. Everything was moved

to our new cabin without a hitch. It was clear both Stewart’s communicated and coordinated. We got the coupon for the photo, and received a bottle of bubbly wine, fruit, and cookies in the cabin, along with a coupon to request more fruit and cookies (not wine) as many times as we wanted. We requested twice.

while we waited to run off and back on, all the B2B folks waited in the mid dining room. They had a spread of coffee, tea, juices, cookies, pastries, etc… when I say ran out and back on, it was quick. But very easy.

Thank you, Old Fart Cruisers and d-train for your responses.  I like d-train's answer best (lol) so I think I'll ask the steward if I can drape my hanging clothes over luggage - can't hurt to ask and hopefully an extra tip will help.  As I said I will bring my own hangers so they wouldn't have to worry about that anyway.  Maybe I'll bring a small velcro cable to place around the hangers to keep everything together.
