How did they handle your disembark?  Did you have to wait to be escorted off the ship once the other passengers had disembarked. ?

We were escorted, our escort had copies of our passports which she said she shared with CBP.  We left the ship thru a large door in the side of the ship that they use at ports....other pax were still disembarking.  We were free to find our way back to our vehicle, which we did.  By then the wife was way better...tho still positive, no fever.  She is still positive....nothing at all shows when I take a test.  She is mostly tired and has a headache.  Otherwise no loss of taste (ever), no fever lately, no cough or ugly sinus drainage.  Seems like a slow road to recovery.

Wow let's say I agree that not sharing Covid status is ok. If that's your plan, let me ask how you're going to handle it when you become ill/realize you have Covid. Are you planning to self-quaranteen and order up room service? Wear an N95 and continue to go through the dining areas to pick up your own meals? Send a family member, masked, who has yet to test positive to pick up food?

I am a nurse practitioner, so I fully understand the desire you have to manage your illness in your own way (I'd be the same, but I understand the risk to myself and others), but if you aren't prepared to protect others, shame on you! If you haven't read Cabin Fever about the impact of Covid on cruising, and how poorly the cruise industry is prepared for an outbreak, maybe you should....

Please explain "your" normal because your action, if you ever get in this situation, comes over as abnormal.

Abnormal; deviating from what is normal or usual, typically in a way that is undesirable or worrying.

Yes, twice, once pre vaccinated and one post

If you don't/didn't test for Covid then that begs the question; How do/did you know you have/had Covid and spreading it around.  Following is part of my blog I am keeping for every cruise, this one was Alaska north/south bound..

August 12, 2022;

This morning I woke up (which is a good thing) with a nasty cold (which is not a good thing). I felt it already coming-on yesterday and tested right away for the obvious culprit but lucky enough that one was negative. I was not looking forward to being quarantined if it tested positive. Drinking water🤔, which I normally don't do 😁, and taking 2 Tylenol every 2 hours might kill it.

6 hours later;

Well drinking water + taking Tylenol did NOT do the trick because I am tested positive for Covid19 (or any of the variants) and are now in isolation on the Dolphin deck which is set aside for this purpose.

Now I think about it I could have kept my mouth shut and carry on as if nothing happened but I can not do that, too many other people could become infected so I just go with the flow and sit out my time. I wish more or all people would do the same and get this nasty thing out of the way.

Too bad some people have an "I don't care, I'm different" attitude.

If you get COVID on a cruise and get put in isolation what happens on disembarkation day?   I am reading here that they make you in the last group off...but what if you have an early flight?    After you get off the ship is it your decision whether to fly home or stay in a hotel?

It depends on how far into quarantine you are; if you have completed quarantine, you can fly home; if not, to the hotel with you.

On disembarkation day in Fort Lauderdale last month, all the COVID-afflicted souls on Aloha deck were taken directly off the ship at 8:30 am. (we had been told about the timing a day or two in advance).

We used a regular elevator, and were escorted outdoors and through a parking lot to the luggage area. Mask were mandatory, and all the crew walking with us wore masks.

Hi,

Does your carry on as normal include masking at all times except when in your cabin with your travel companion? Laurie

I may wear a n95 mask inside, as I haven't had Covid onboard, and hopefully won't I will decide at the time. The only  thing I have decided on is not to tell Princess so I'm not "locked" in my cabin.

What if you don't want to go to a hotel?   What if you refuse?   (Just being Devil's advocate here).

As far as I know, within the USA there is no restriction on flying on a commercial plane if you have active Covid.

Whether you should or not is a different question.

Same for us in Port Everglades...except we had our bags with us.  Masked up, we took the shuttle to our car and drove home.

For those concerned about being shuttled to a hotel, I am pretty sure this would apply if you were overseas.  In the US there are few if any restrictions on covid positive folks.  Other countries are different.

The book is about the situation VERY early in the pandemic. Obviously, the cruise lines have had time to learn, assess and change their protocols by now. I have cruised once this year and never felt uncomfortable about my Covid risk, and I flew from the east to west coast to cruise.  I believe that the cruise lines are making an effort to reduce risk for everyone. Despite their efforts however, responses here on the message board would suggest that we have traded one unknown, that is how the virus is transmitted, for another, the risk of exposure to someone on board who believes their vacation is more important than mine. This makes me hesitant to cruise again for a while. I miss the direct supervision by the CDC because one can no longer track a ship or cruise line's Covid patterns.  Laurie

It's possible to track a cruise ship's Covid situation by monitoring forums on social media (such as this) and set a news alert for the cruise ship/line you're on or will be on. Unless, of course, you're on a cruise with little to no internet as was the case this summer in Iceland. Beautiful country, wonderful crew, good food, but almost no internet after day three. 30kb download speeds get you nowhere with all those ads to load.

Right there with you about not cruising for a while. I've cancelled three I had booked since June.
