sbaker Posted December 12, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2022 Wondering about ship time vs. local time on the Mexican Riviera itinerary for Navigator of the Seas. The ship leaves Los Angeles (Pacific Standard Time) and goes to Cabo San Lucas (Mountain Standard Time), then Mazatlan (Mountain Standard Time) and then Puerto Vallarta (Central Standard Time). Does the ship time change every time the local time changes, or do they leave ship time the same even though it may be different than the local time in the ports?? Coralc Posted December 12, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2022 When we sailed in September, there were 2-time changes on the way down and 2-time changes on the way back. It was ridiculous. 🙄
easyqueasy Posted December 12, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2022 They changed times during the March sailing.

Even WJ times changed many times opening at 6, 630 or 7am on different days Edited December 12, 2022 by ONECRUISER 1
Coralc Posted December 12, 2022 #6 Share Posted December 12, 2022 This was 4 on a 7-night cruise, which just seems excessive. I know why, because no one can be bothered to wear a watch anymore. And they all use cell phones to tell time. 🙄

Ship time changes are up to the discretion of the Captain. I am currently in the Navigator and the 11/28 seven day Mexico sailing we did time change 1 hour forward before Cabo and another 1 hour forward before PV, then 1 hour back on the last 2 sea days. In the current 12/09 sailing, same time changes will occur. Captain James will be leaving for break after this cruise, so it will be up to the next Captain if he will follow. I have been on cruises with a stop in PV and ship time was not moved forward to match ‘local’ time.
neverbeenhere Posted December 12, 2022 #9 Share Posted December 12, 2022 I happy not to change the ships time, but I’m also happy to leave if people don’t show up back in time.
Btank Posted December 16, 2022 #10 Share Posted December 16, 2022 I can't speak to Mexican Riviera cruises but on our recent 4-day to Cozumel from Galveston, we stayed on ship's time (Central Standard Time). Cozumel was one hour ahead (Eastern Standard Time). --bruce T.
ATSEAMYLIFE Posted December 17, 2022 #11 Share Posted December 17, 2022 Wait until 2024 when we stop the time change silliness.
bonsai3s Posted December 17, 2022 #12 Share Posted December 17, 2022 Agree with both coralc and Wallyj. We were also on the 11/28 sailing...did not make sense...2 time changes down, then 2 more coming back. Even the crew agree it's a bit crazy. Captain James went home today and replaced by Captain Yohan (sp)...we'll find out next week what he'll do. Merry Christmas to everyone!
