Seascape - Friends in Yacht Club - Are we able to join them??

Greetings fellow cruisers...  We are cruising on the Seascape soon.  We have friends that are booked in the Yacht Club, but we are not.  Will we be able to "cross the velvet rope" and be with them at their pool, or in their restaurant, bars, etc?  Or is this area strictly for Yacht Club passengers?

Thank you in advance for any info!

Not unless your are also booked in the Yacht CLub.  Thats why I didn't book YC because the rest of my party didn't

You will not be able to join them in the Yacht Club to enjoy any of the benefits there. Those are just for paying guests. However if you like to be with your friends, you can join them outside the Yacht Club in other areas of the ship. For example for drinks at the bars or at the theater. You have plenty of opportunities of being with your friends outside the Yacht Club area.

(Chiming in before people attack the OP)😉

There are actually locked doors that separate the areas.

As previously stated, non-Yacht Club guests cannot join their Yacht Club friends in the Yacht Club areas.

Your friends can come to you and eat with you in a normal restaurant. Sometimes you can pay for a day in the YC to join your friends on the pool and in the restaurant. I don't know how much it will cost, but I think it's not cheap.
The YC ist much better than the rest off the ship, service, food and so on.

Yes, of course you can be with them, provided they are willing to 'cross the velvet rope' and meet you somewhere around the ship! 🙄

"I'm sure you could sneak your friends in if you really wanted.  Who cares if they didn't actually pay for the service they are getting!!"

Of course, there may be YCers on the cruise, like @morpheusofthesea, who tip the YC staff to discover the trespassers. 🕵️‍♂️

We have found the situation distressing to those paying and utilizing the limited resources available in the Yacht Club. Never have we experienced any lines, until the seafood extravaganza on the One Pool deck had 40 guests lined up to place their orders. We, on the other hand, went to the dining room than be subjected to eating while bending over on our lounges. Thank goodness the YC restaurant is open. We experienced this bending over a lounge chair on the Celebrity Retreat sun decks (though rectified on the Beyond to a minor degree with 6 tables). We did not count the number of tables on the OPD as we did at Ocean House. But there clearly are not enough for the amount of guests (and friends/family plus those with "access") on top of those that sneak in. Our waiter told us there were faces he'd never seen before in line. This is a management issue. Both the YC guests and YC staff are on the same page. It is management to blame.

Since the significant tightening of point rewards in the casino will free up some cash, mayhaps I will continue the Morpheus agency's bounty program, to thwart YC interlopers.

It would be in my best interests, really. My wife has already made it clear she will have words with anyone she finds to be lacking YC bona fides. She takes very seriously MSC's top bullet point, promoting YC on their website:

  • Dedicated, private area of the ship accessible only to MSC Yacht Club guests

She is six feet of Teutonic temerity when her dander is up and if a crew member walks-out the intruder before the missus finds out, the tip/bounty will be money well spent. Plus, I will have earned a Morpheus' Yacht Club Detective Agency decoder pin.

You can't be serious??? Have you ever cruised in YC??  I guess lines for drinks, kids running around ship, crowds on sea days, crowds on tendering, lines for food in buffet, average MDR food, etc is your cup of tea!!

I guess you know that this sort of suggestion leads to significant heartburn for the YC Director, the Concierge staff and the Head Butler.  Some of us have seen where either for marketing, VIP courtesy, or really unique and special circumstances non-YC guests had limited access to the YC. It is not the norm that you can expect to arrange for access, by either paying for a day pass or even arranging a tour.

We were on a cruise recently on which the bridal couple was in the Yacht Club, but the rest of the party was not. The wedding was not held in the YC. it wasn’t a large wedding party and it was clear to me YC for all would been a major challenge financially. It was very special that the YC Director and Restaurant Manager permitted the wedding party to have the wedding dinner in the YC Restaurant. It was such a nice gesture. I doubt seriously any of my fellow YC guests objected over this kindness. This is the kind of exception to policy I personally don’t mind.

The YC is better than the other part of the ship. This was the german autocorrection, sorry.

And yes normally the YC is much better, but we were last week on the world europa and the YC was not really a good experience, to much people for the restaurant and TSL.
