Marga.Anders Posted February 8, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2023 Hi, We are ending a cruise in Southampton with Anthem in September. We are trying to figure out what train times to book to London. We are not in a hurry so wondering: what time CAN you get off the ship and what time do you have to be off? We carry our own luggage so that is not an issue. Is it okay to stay part of the morning? Also, does anybody now what the transfer time to the trainstation is? Rare little britain Posted February 8, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2023 Every one off by 9am Train station is a 12 minute walk pulling luggage. Or a quick cab ride.
cublet Posted February 8, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2023 Hello, There used to be a 'Stay a while' option that for a small(ish) amount of money you could stay on-board and use the public facilities and Windjammer until mid afternoon. This option was to be found in the Cruise Planner. If you are going by train please check with the station what platform your train will use and just as important whether the lift to that platform is working. I didn't, it wasn't and all the steps nearly killed me. Regards, Cublet
MommaBear55 Posted February 8, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2023 We easily caught a 9:45 train, could have gotten the one around 9. We took a cab, it was raining and it's uphill.

We were going into London, but Heathrow transfers in London. From Southampton to Heathrow is at least one and often two transfers. There is a National Express bus that goes directly to Heathrow, takes less than 2 hours and costs $23 usd
hancock Posted February 10, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 10, 2023 Do consider the bus. They will insist you put on your seat belt. The earlier you book, the cheaper the seat.

It's even closer to the port than the train station. If you're heading to Heathrow, the National Express bus is way better than the train. No changes and no schlepping of luggage. Make sure you book for the correct terminal as there are 2 or 3 stops at Heathrow.
