Walking to El Moro from port

I wanted to walk along the sea to get to the fort and found instructions about walking the Paseo de la Princesa to Paseo Del Moro, which sounds beautiful, The article says the walk ends at a door leading into El Moro, but then it says the entrance there is not open. I was also hoping to explore the fort. Does anyone know if you can get in this way now?

We did what @crewsweepersuggested in 2020 and it was a lovely walk up to El Morro, much nicer than riding in a vehicle with great views along the way.  Of course, it would depend on the ability to walk up a hill, not too steep though.  Google Earth will show you where the gate is as well as the street inside the city wall.

It was an easy walk, when you exit the port, you will see the sheraton hotel right in front and a wallgreens, turn left and walk till you see the old stone wall and follow along to el Morro, its about a 20 minutes walk.

Update, we did take the walk. We happened to meet a policeman during the walk and asked if the gate at El Morro was open and he said yes. So you can walk until the end and get into El Morro. There are a lot of stairs to get into the fort. The walk is delightful, though you will meet and smell feral cats along the way.

The map I have of Old San Juan doesn't show an entrance to the fort from the walkway. We have always taken the cuty tram/open air bus to Del Morro Castle then walked our way back to the ship.

Where did you find the tram?

The official San Juan website indicates that there IS a tram and has 2023 information....

May I ask you for a link to this website? If it's this one, https://sanjuanpuertorico.com/  it's not an "official" San Juan website, it's a commercial site run by a private company, Cupeles Communications, Inc. masquerading as an "official" site. Even that site, if you dig deeply enough into it, admits that the free trolley is not in service. See this page: https://sanjuanpuertorico.com/trolley-old-san-juan/  .
