Cato610 Posted February 13, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2023 Cruising in September and think we’ll get WIFI for the entire trip for my wife’s phone. I’d like to watch Penn State game on Day 1 and Day 8 of the cruise on an Ipad. Besides that, going to unplug and read books. Can I get wifi for ipad on just those days? Says for our room $30/day. Cruising Cindy Lou Posted February 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2023 We were on 7 day last week. Hubby went up on day 3. Was told he could pay $250 for whole week, wait until next day and pay $150 for last half cruise or pay $50 per day. Hope this helps.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted February 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2023 Yes they do have it but expensive. Last I saw the un-discounted price was 1 Hour of Continuous use $34.00 1 Day of Continuous use $67.00 If a CC member Elite or above you will have minutes of non-continuous time as a benefit and discounts against any internet package. Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted February 14, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2023 The somewhat good news is it broken down per night and prorated, if you can wait a couple of nights, on a 7 night sailing you’ll save 2/7ths. Note, once you starts you can’t stop it. 24 hour pass is expensive

Hello We pay $49 per month to spectrum for very high speed 300 mbps ,that $67 is outrageous same with that $34 . I never use any ships internet because of price & slow speeds .If I get it free , a Elite + perk , I will use it
DingoMom Posted February 14, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 14, 2023 If your wife can manage NOT use her WiFi during the football games, then you can log into her account and watch the games. When you buy the package, you can log in at any time for one device. You may log out of one device and log on another device on the same account…just not at the same time. DH do it all the time. Here’s hoping she doesn’t have to work on NCAA Saturdays!! Also, the new StarLink is exceptionally fast for streaming, so you’re enjoyment should be great! 1

Iriel Posted February 14, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 14, 2023 So, if I upgrade to premium onboard, will it be $50 per day? I was thinking of trying the basic wifi and see if I can manage before upgrading, but it seems it's useless, so I'm trying to find the cheapest way to upgrade. Can I pay the upgrade with OBC? Will only work if your wife has the Premium WiFi, the basic just handles emails not streaming.

If you got the basic Wi-Fi with your booking you should be able to upgrade on board for $15 pd. The difference in price between the basic wi-fi and premium. If you upgrade pre cruise the price is $13 pd. There should be a voucher offer in your Cruise Planner offering the $13. If your OBC is from Celebrity then you can use it to upgrade pre cruise. However if the OBC is from your TA then it is not available to use until you are on the ship.
mrgabriel Posted February 14, 2023 #11 Share Posted February 14, 2023 I don't think I've ever had coverage that is good enough to watch live TV. Maybe Starlink has improved service a lot? @Cato610 You might want to ask the folks in the Casino bar if they can show the games on their TVs. We've seen plenty of Nittany Lions games on cruiseships!

Hmmm. Too slow to stream Youtube TV w/ premium package? “Premium Wi-Fi puts our best internet at your fingertips throughout your vacation. Message or video chat with your friends and family, browse the web, send emails even with larger files attached, and post on social media to your heart’s content. Plus, you can enjoy videos, movies, binge-worthy shows, and music on your favorite streaming apps.” PSU/WVU 9/2 could be a night game = 3am ship time. 😬

Maybe it will work? If not, you know that Penn State is going to beat WVA - lol. We Are!
Rare PTC DAWG Posted February 14, 2023 #14 Share Posted February 14, 2023 (edited) Last September my Wife found a live UGA game on YouTube of all places while cruising in the Caribbean on Equinox…basic WiFi package..game was airing on SEC Network in the states. Just monkeying around with her Ipad, and there it was. Very little if any buffering to speak of. You never know. Re the OP and Penn St, if it is a high enough profile of a game, you may have luck in the casino bar or another bar on board seeing the game. I have had good luck streaming the radio feed of other games, your team probably has an app for this, I know UGA does. I’m now seeing you are in Alaska, that will affect the times for sure. Good luck. Edited February 14, 2023 by PTC DAWG

So combined with jet lag and my antagonism for the “shows”, you will find me in my cabin in a very good/very bad mood.
