lhlm75 Posted February 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2023 Hi all, My DH booked us YC for April 2024. I was looking at the web site and I don’t understand the difference between the suite and YC. I mean I’m aware that YC has suites , but MSC advertises stand alone suites. I’m kinda confused here. SirWolf Posted February 18, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) Suites are the largest non-YC cabins.. available with Aurea Experience. Yacht Club is the Experience.. “ship-within-a-ship” concept with its own categories of suites. Example: MSC Seascape • Inside (Bella / Fantastica) • Ocean View (Bella / Fantastica) • Balcony (Bella / Fantastica / Aurea) • Suite (Aurea) -> Junior Suite Aurea -> Premium Suite Aurea -> Premium Suite Aurea with Terrace -> Premium Suite Aurea with Whirlpool -> Grand Suite Aurea -> Two-Bedroom Grand Suite Aurea • Yacht Club Interior Suite • Yacht Club Deluxe Suite • Yacht Club Deluxe Grand Suite • Yacht Club Owner’s Suite • Yacht Club Royal Suite Your DH made a smart choice.. enjoy sailing in Yacht Club. Spurschick Posted February 18, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2023 YC includes wifi, drinks, butler, priority embarkation/ disembarkation Trust me YC is much better than a suite 2
Two Wheels Only Posted February 18, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) Think of the stateroom type and the "experience level" as 2 separate things. Someone could have a suite with Aurea experience. Someone could have an interior with Yacht Club experience. MSC uses "experience" as a way of ranking the levels like airlines use coach, business class, first class, etc. Edited February 18, 2023 by Two Wheels Only 2
lhlm75 Posted February 19, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted February 19, 2023 Hi and Thank you for the replies. Now that I know that I will be in the yacht club my question is what does the yacht club includes? I have been on the Haven on NCL, how does this compare? Thank you. NCL Haven one must pay for drink package, WiFi and items in mini bar. Access to Thermal Spa is additional fee. NCL Haven has set menu for Haven restaurant. Same everyday. MSC YC has drinks, WiFi and minibar included in this experience. Sodas etc refilled in mini fridge. Nuts, Pringles, and chocolate free for first one. One bottle of liquor or wine can be selected for cabin. MSC YC has access to Thermal Spa for YC guests. MSC YC restaurant has rotating menus for lunch and dinner. New choices everyday. I am sure there are more differences but, these are basics. 2
mnpurple Posted February 19, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2023 What ship will you be on? Our family preferred YC over Haven. Besides what was mentioned above, there is far more space in the pool and lounge areas. You can also have drinks delivered to your room, which is nice at times. Depending on ship/area of ship, you can have priority elevator service. I will say that the priority boarding at ports by MSC was not great on our last cruise in the Caribbean. Lines for security weren't terrible, but we have been escorted to the front with NCL and with MSC in the Med, they had separate entries.
Rare Best Cat Mom Posted February 19, 2023 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2023 We prefer YC to Haven for a variety of reasons, one of the biggest ones being that the YC lunch and dinner menu change each day. You can also ask for made to order items whenever you wish. (You may get your requests the same day or a subsequent day, depending on the complexity of the dish and availability of ingredients.) If you want Butcher's Cut meats instead of going to the BC venue, you can likely have them cooked in YC instead of that day's menu items -- or even in addition to the menu items. We especially liked this when we wanted to pair an item with the YC's daily risotto offering. Also, YC tends to have less children than we experienced in the Haven. This may not matter to some, but for us it was a big benefit.
Rare B_A_H Posted February 19, 2023 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2023 Non-YC suites are just bigger staterooms and have no benefits over other Aurea categories. All Non-YC suites are Aurea and the only major benefits to Aurea are priority boarding, anytime dining, a private sundeck, and access to the Aurea spa. You get more Voyagers Club points as well.
