CruiseMomTX Posted February 21, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2023 This will be our 6th Royal cruise since Thanksgiving and finally got a Royal Up!! We originally used a casino offer to book a balcony on the Radiance 10 day 2/27 sailing and while on the Adventure last week we saw a Jr Suite open and were able to move to that with no extra money, they actually said we have to get approval since its showing cheaper than your current room. After that we got an email saying our Royal Up bids were cancelled and we decided not to worry about seeing if we could try to Royal Up again. Well a night or two ago I decided why not and bid $530 total for a 1 bedroom grand suite and just now got the email saying our offer was accepted!!! We are excited and know it won't have the same perks you would get on an Oasis class ship but a bigger room anyway. So tell me what perks we will get and how can we get in touch with the concierge for dinner reservations if that's a perk on the Radiance. We bought the UDP. Our new cabin is 1048.

Access to the suite lounge and their happy hour from appx 5-8 that does not count against your drinks is the biggest perk
Rare orville99 Posted February 21, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2023 RD_concierge@rccl.com I would contact the concierge directly if they haven't reached out to you by Friday (they won't get their suite guest manifest until Thursday) As for perks, the ones that stand out as valuable to us are: 1) Breakfast in one of the specialty restaurants every day; 2) Ordering room service from the MDR menu at no cost; 3) Happy hour drinks in the suite lounge that does not go against your loyalty drink vouchers (if any) 4) Priority boarding/tendering/departure; 5) Reserved sections in the theatre for shows 6) Much nicer robes and BR amenities
CruiseMomTX Posted February 21, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted February 21, 2023 Thank y’all for the information. We will turn Diamond Plus on this cruise but I know that won’t actually be recognized until our next cruise.

That frees up 4 drinks that you can enjoy elsewhere🍷😇 When you trade emails with the concierge, it never hurts to ask if they can make specialty dinner reservations for you even though it isn't technically a suite perk. In our experience, they have usually been able to make those for us (within reason) when we ask.

Congrats on the upgrade!! There is another thread about Royal Upgrades - it might be a good idea to also post your experience there as well - many of us read that thread to get a feel of other peoples' experiences- and gauge how successful (or not) the bids are.
George C Posted February 21, 2023 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2023 We also like being walked off by concierge when we disembark . Unfortunately not many perks with this class , do like the breakfast.

With one or two minor differences, the breakfast menu in the specialty restaurant on Radiance is the same as the breakfast menu in the Coastal Kitchen on Oasis and Quantum class ships: Edited February 21, 2023 by orville99

They should be able to help with that or any other type of reservation question.
