Back in the old days, when one had to dine with strangers...

We sat with a delightful couple ... Gene and Marty.

Marty told us one story about how they were on some cruise, and a waiter had tried to kill himself by jumping overboard.

She was still annoyed that their next port arrival was delayed because because the ship had to turn back, and search for the waiter.

(I just wanted to appropriately set the delightfullness)

It was a 14 day cruise.   Every night at dinner, she was say something about the patter, and then say:

"Gene always calls it the pitter patter".

For 14 freakin' dinners.

OK.  We got it.  Gene is the most clever guy on the planet.

Thank god forced dining with strangers is gone.

Good thing then that Mrs Ldubs isn't Marty and I doubt I'm near as clever as Gene.  Lol

Oh, did I mention she calls it the pitter patter?  😄    (She actually uses the term generically for the daily program thingy on all cruise lines.)

It's ok when people tell me the same story night after night.

One granny we sat with:

"My son is a doctor, and he paid for the cruise."

...that was OK.

But, she took all the breadsticks ... which is a clear violation of maritime law.

This was a holiday cruise.

After 10 nights with her, I completely understood buying her a cruise ticket as a self-serving escape!

Hopefully she didn't put them in her purse!

I was once on Adventure of the Seas out of Southampton.   Day before disembark, a couple people of advanced age literally filled their pockets with the little marmalade jars.  Literally emptied the basket.   Good thing they didn't take the ketchup!  Haha.

I don’t know when it changed either but it was some time between last March and last November. My March cruise had Patters and my November had Princess Event Listings.

“Princess Event Listings” sounds like a placeholder name until they come up with something better. Maybe they should have a contest.

We were onboard Ruby from Nov to Jan, and as of 1-8-23 it was still the Patter on that ship.

I was making toast in the lido of some princess ships, so I was waiting for it to go through the toaster.

Two ladies are going through the line near me.

One says:

There are those muffins my mom really likes.

I always take her a bag of those when I go home.

Maybe she was part of the marmalade couple.

Nope. I'm wrong. That one had changed in Dec at least. I didn't even notice lol
