lauraleigh9mm Posted March 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2023 Hi! I have been looking all over the net for some pics of recent menus (specifically the Muse). If anyone has any they can post I would greatly appreciate it.

Rare Stickman1990 Posted March 20, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) Here’s a few from the Muse last month I just realised how few of the menus I actually copied but I have a ton of photos of the dishes we enjoyed. We really did enjoy the range of food onboard at all the restaurants The Grill The fantastic Pizza restaurant Spaccanapoli Indochine - one of our favourites and the menu changes every 3-4 days Silver Note Edited March 20, 2023 by Stickman1990 3

Ha - were just “all inclusive” drinkers so never bother with the wine list - just let them know the styles you like and they’ll give you some options We really enjoyed the included wines as well - lots of varieties and good level of quality As diverse as any we’ve encountered and the servers were more than happy to locate a bottle of our favourites when they weren’t immediately available in a restaurant

Sunny429 Posted March 20, 2023 #8 Share Posted March 20, 2023 How is the steak in Atlantide (the Main Dining room) these days? On previous cruises it tasted, for lack of a better word, “steaky”. Very strong tasting and the chicken was sometimes rubbery. One neat service they offer is if you order a bottle of wine from the list and don’t drink it all, they will save and store it for you and bring it to any dining venue you’re at the next evening. I just saw the What to eat/drink and what to avoid thread. Apologies, I should have posted my question there.
goofysmom99 Posted March 20, 2023 #10 Share Posted March 20, 2023 I'll try asking here before opening a separate thread - is there anyone who has firsthand experience with gluten-free (celiac) dining on Silversea? There is virtually nothing on any of the menus posted above. Would that mean that every single meal (except maybe breakfast) would have to be something off-menu and/or preplanned? Seriously considering SS for next year but am apprehensive about every meal having to be preplanned. Are there GF hamburger buns so you can just decide to have a burger? GF bread for a sandwich/toast? I've been known to bring my own but don't know what SS will necessitate. Yes, I read the dietary blurbs on the website but doesn't really describe daily GF life to me. Hoping someone with celiac has experience to share. TIA

The steak in Atlantide almost brought me to tears. Never before have I encountered such a noble beast as a Limousin being toppled and extend such anguish upon me. Several diners on the surrounding tables commented upon the fact that my teeth just weren’t up to the job and urged me to send it back. One thing I Will never do is waste the flesh of a magnificent beast but this is the closest I have ever come to turning vegetarian. I’ve spent much time pondering upon it since. It played on my mind. I’m a reluctant carnivore and never waste meat but that is the closest I’ve ever been. Thanks for the feedback. Dare I ask, was the steak better at other venues? Or, should I ask, where can my husband expect to get a good steak onboard? Daveywavey70 Posted March 21, 2023 #16 Share Posted March 21, 2023 (edited) We had steaks in La Dame, Kaiseki and Hot Rocks (all fillet from memory) and they were all superb. Edited March 21, 2023 by Daveywavey70 Autocorrect
Rothko1 Posted March 21, 2023 #17 Share Posted March 21, 2023 I've been disappointed by the Ethiopian food aboard. The doro wot, ti'hilo, and beyainatu they served just wasn't up to my standards. I've been to a number of Ethiopian restaurants in Washington DC and elsewhere, such as the Red Sea and Meskerem. They know how to make proper injera bread. Rare Tothesunset Posted March 21, 2023 #18 Share Posted March 21, 2023 Probably the best Ethiopian food is found in Ethiopia. Of course, there they call it food. 1

The problem is that you have this one data point: one night, in one restaurant, on one ship, on one cruise. It's possible that the steak in Atlantide is consistently worse than the other venues on Silversea ships, but since all your other steaks in other venues were good, that there was an issue with the steak in Atlantide for that ship around that time. Perhaps it was a supplier issue. Perhaps an issue with the freezing or defrosting of the meat. Perhaps an issue with the butchering in the kitchen. I'm not trying to justify or excuse Silversea; you were served a bad meal. I'm just saying there's no way to make a general determination that steaks in Atlantide are to be avoided from this one visit.

Daveywavey70 Posted March 21, 2023 #22 Share Posted March 21, 2023 I Had a conversation on that cruise with somebody else that had had the same Limousin cote a l'os who found it inedible too. I Have also heard many other comments on here of Atlantide steaks in general. You do have to be spectacularly bad to mess up a fillet but some cuts take a lot more skill. Ive always talked about how incredible the food is on SS and that really is the only bad meal that i've had. I Don't have access to the original pic right now but I have just grabbed a screenshot of it from my holiday video but you get the Gist.

pavementends Posted March 22, 2023 #25 Share Posted March 22, 2023 Not being familiar with butcher's cuts in all languages I found (via Google) that a cote a l'os is a sirloin with a bone attached. So not one of those cuts that chefs are want to push for "flavor" as opposed to tenderness, like, for example, a flat iron steak. It SHOULD be adequately tender and if not there is cause for disappointment. I do seem to remember being disappointed by a steak on a recent cruise. I expect to give it another chance in a cruise coming up. As another data point, I made a special reservation to try a bistecca alla Fiorentina when in Florence. It was big- really big- but not particularly tender.
